The Gospel of Christ: Recovering Sight and Breaking Bondage

In this episode of Christ Life Classic, Pastor Modupeola Thompson-Ehima explores the gospel of Christ as the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16)—not merely a message to be heard or a doctrine to be understood, but God’s power to deliver the soul from the inward dominion of sin and establish the life of Christ within the believer. Drawing from Romans 6:16–22, this teaching reveals how whatever we yield ourselves to becomes our master. Uncontrolled anger, bitterness, fleshly desires, and the pursuit of worldly status can keep believers in bondage when they continue to submit to the law of sin rather than the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. True spiritual power is therefore demonstrated not merely through outward manifestations, but through genuine inward transformation. The sermon further examines Christ’s mission to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind (Luke 4:18–19). It reveals that deliverance begins with spiritual enlightenment—the opening of our understanding to perceive God’s righteous standards and recognise the deception of the wisdom that opposes Him. Through Genesis 3 and 1 Corinthians 1:18–30, the message contrasts earthly, sensual wisdom with the wisdom of God revealed in Christ crucified. What the world considers foolishness and weakness is, in truth, the power of God to dismantle pride, subdue carnal desires, and cultivate meekness, peace, and purity within us.

The Power of the Gospel: From Bondage to Righteousness

In this episode of Christ Life Classic, Pastor Modupeola Thompson-Ehima explores the gospel as the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16), revealing that its power extends beyond outward demonstrations to the inward deliverance of the believer from the dominion of sin. Drawing from Romans 6 and 8, this teaching examines the conflict between the law of sin and death and the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. Every person is governed by what they yield themselves to; therefore, true freedom comes as the believer submits to the superior law of the Spirit, which breaks the hold of sinful desires, ungodly habits, and fleshly appetites. Through the promises of Isaiah 49 and Jesus’ proclamation of liberty in Luke 4, the message reveals Christ’s mission to deliver captives and set the oppressed free. It challenges believers to recognise the areas where they have become bound by destructive patterns, toxic emotions, and traditions that oppose God’s righteous standard. The teaching also addresses the importance of self-control, particularly in speech and emotional responses. Drawing from James 3 and Proverbs 25:28, it warns that an unbridled tongue, uncontrolled anger, and careless words can bring destruction to homes, marriages, and relationships. Spiritual maturity requires yielding every part of ourselves to the Holy Spirit, allowing His work within us to produce self-control and righteousness.

From Darkness to Light: The Path to Spiritual Liberty

What does it mean to be spiritually enlightened and walk worthy of the Lord? In this episode of Christ Life Classic, Pastor Modupeola Thompson-Ehima explores the believer’s journey into spiritual maturity, drawing from Paul’s prayer in Colossians 1:9–10. This teaching reveals the need to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, allowing His light to expose self-will, uncover the deceitfulness of sin, and establish His righteous standard within us. The message further examines the call to cultivate love in the Spirit and yield to the inward governance of the Holy Spirit. Believers are challenged to move beyond superficial religiosity and worldly attitudes, recognising that they belong to God and are called to glorify Him in both body and spirit. Finally, this teaching brings the reality of divine love into practical focus through the necessity of forgiveness. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 13, it confronts the bondage of bitterness and calls believers to release resentment, extend forgiveness, and walk in the freedom that comes from yielding to the love of God.

Beyond Sensation: Learning the Leading of the Spirit

What does it take to grow beyond the beginnings of faith into a deeper experience of the life of Christ? In this episode of Christ Life Classic, Pastor Dupe Ehima explores the necessity of cultivating love in the Spirit—a genuine appetite for spiritual realities, communion with God, and the things of the Kingdom. Drawing from the Pauline prayers in Colossians 1:3–10, this teaching challenges believers to move beyond spiritual dullness and distraction into a life marked by fervent devotion, sincere worship, and a growing hunger for God. The message examines the importance of personal spiritual discipline, encouraging believers to give themselves to the study and memorisation of Scripture, edifying spiritual songs, prayer, and the consistent nourishment of their spirits. Through the example of the woman with the alabaster box, we are reminded to lay aside self-consciousness and reputational concerns in expressing genuine love and devotion to the Lord. This teaching also explores baptism in the Holy Spirit and the place of speaking in tongues in the believer's spiritual life, emphasising inward governance and sensitivity to divine communication rather than emotional display. Believers are cautioned against counterfeit spiritual manifestations and the pursuit of sensational prophetic experiences, and are encouraged to cultivate discernment and learn to follow the inward leading of the Spirit.

When Faith Comes of Age: Choosing Christ Above the Treasures of the World

What happens when faith matures and the believer begins to see beyond the temporary attractions of this world? In this episode of Christ Life Classic, we explore the progression of spiritual maturity through the example of Moses, who, by faith, refused the privileges and treasures of Egypt, choosing instead to identify with God's people and esteem the reproach of Christ above earthly riches. This teaching challenges believers to examine the voices shaping their decisions and to prioritise God's eternal purpose over career ambitions, social status, cultural expectations, and material prosperity. Drawing from Colossians 2:6–8, the message reveals four major threats to authentic faith: philosophy, vain deceit, the traditions of men, and the rudiments of the world. These influences can subtly distort our understanding of God's standards, replacing divine truth with human wisdom, superficial appearances, unscriptural customs, and worldly measures of success. The teaching also brings these truths into everyday relationships and marriage, calling believers to abandon pride, secrecy, and cultural stereotypes in favour of biblical truth, sacrificial love, and genuine godliness.

From Darkness to Light: The Work of True Repentance

What does it mean to have the eyes of our understanding enlightened, and how does this light transform the way we live? In this episode of Christ Life Classic, Pastor Dupe Ehima explores the Pauline prayers in Ephesians 1:15–18, revealing the necessity of spiritual enlightenment in our journey into the fullness of salvation. Drawing from Romans 5:10, she explains that beyond being reconciled to God through the death of Christ, believers are called to be saved by His life, learning to walk in His faith, obedience, and righteousness. This teaching examines the true nature of repentance, distinguishing genuine godly sorrow from outward emotional displays. Through the Scriptures, we discover how the light of God exposes self-will, carnality, unrighteous ambition, and covetousness, producing a sincere turning away from sin and a renewed submission to His standards. Through a personal workplace testimony, Pastor Dupe illustrates what it means to yield to the Holy Spirit when faced with disappointment, choosing love, honour, and humility over resentment and division. The message challenges us to examine our hearts, surrender our personal definitions of righteousness, and embrace the transforming work of the faith of the Son of God.

Babes to Maturity: Growing into the Fullness of Christ

What does it mean to grow into the fullness of God's salvation? In this episode of Christ Life Classic, Pst. Dupe Ehima explores the journey from the initial experience of the new birth to living by the faith of the Son of God. Drawing from Romans 5:10, Galatians 2:20, and Hebrews 12:2, this teaching reveals that the Christian walk calls us beyond the experience of redemption into a life shaped by Christ's resurrection, endurance, and eternal purpose. The message challenges worldly expressions of Christianity that prioritise immediate gratification and material pursuits over self-denial, spiritual endurance, and the hope of God's calling. Through the contrast between spiritual infancy and maturity, we examine the attitudes that hinder growth and the importance of sound doctrine, fellowship, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit within the local church. Finally, drawing from Paul's prayer in Ephesians 1:15–23, this teaching calls believers to seek the enlightenment of the eyes of their understanding to know the hope of God's calling, the riches of His inheritance in the saints, and the exceeding greatness of His power toward those who believe. Join us to press beyond spiritual infancy, grow in the knowledge of Christ, and learn to live by His life and the faith of the Son of God.

Established in Faith, Love, and the Comfort of the Holy Spirit

What does it mean to grow into the fullness of the Christian life? In this episode of Christ Life Classic, we explore three essential pillars of the believer’s walk: love for all the saints, the fear of the Lord, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Building on the foundation of faith in the Lord Jesus, this teaching reveals how genuine faith must find expression in love, reverence for God, and a life led by His Spirit. The message highlights the importance of belonging to and growing within a local church, where believers experience fellowship, accountability, discipleship, and spiritual maturity. It also calls us to cultivate the fear of the Lord—not as mere terror, but as a deep reverence for His person, authority, and ways, remembering the transformation made possible through the Lord Jesus Christ. Finally, we examine the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter and Spirit of Truth, who abides with believers, guides them into truth, and works in them to bring about the life and character of Christ.
