Frankly

Johanna Buchweitz

Frankly is a podcast about the business of being human. We spend so much of our lives building—businesses, careers, relationships, identities, and ideas of what success is supposed to look like. But behind every company, every career, and every version of success is a person trying to figure it all out. Hosted by Johanna Buchweitz, Frankly explores the human side of ambition and the stories behind the people building meaningful lives and businesses. Through honest conversations with founders, leaders, creatives, entrepreneurs, and people navigating their own unexpected paths, we talk about what doesn't always make it onto the résumé or into the boardroom: ambition, uncertainty, failure, identity, money, relationships, parenthood, grief, reinvention, and the moments that force us to rethink what we're building—and why. Because business is personal. And sometimes the most important conversations aren't about what we're building, it’s about who we're becoming while we build it. No perfect answers. No polished versions of ourselves. Just real people, real stories, and honest conversations. This is Frankly.

You Don't Have to Be Fearless

What if you stopped waiting to feel ready? In this episode of Frankly, I sit down with Ratna Juita to talk about the fears, insecurities, and expectations we carry as we build careers, businesses, and lives of our own. Ratna's journey has taken her from Indonesia to Singapore, from struggling with her confidence in English to becoming a sought-after speaker, trainer, and LinkedIn creator. But the path between those points wasn't a straight line. It involved burnout, self-doubt, uncomfortable visibility, and the uncertainty of building a business when passion doesn't immediately translate into profit. We talk about what it means to put yourself out there when you're afraid of being judged, why being seen can feel so uncomfortable, and how the desire to be liked can keep us saying yes to things that aren't right for us. We also get into the harder questions: What are we trying to prove? Why do we tie our worth to what we earn? And what would change if we stopped treating success as evidence that we're enough? This is an honest conversation about entrepreneurship, identity, and learning to move forward without having everything figured out. Because you don't have to eliminate fear before you begin. And you don't have to earn your worth. In this episode, we explore: Building a business after burnout and a career changeFacing the fear of public speaking and being seenHow sharing your story can create connection and opportunityThe emotional reality of entrepreneurship, including financial uncertainty and self-doubtPeople-pleasing, boundaries, and the courage to disappoint othersSeparating your self-worth from your revenueRedefining what “enough” looks likeLinks From The Episode: Connect with Ratna on: LinkedIn, Instagram, The Mindgem Lineage Provisions 15% off Pique Hydration Protocol Support the show Connect We'd love to hear from you. You Can't Hate Yourself Into Your Highest Potential

What if the thing driving your ambition is also the thing keeping you from feeling like you're enough? In this episode of Frankly, I sit down with Brittany Michalchuk to explore self-mastery, discipline, personal growth, and the beliefs that shape the way we see ourselves. Brittany shares her journey from seeking external validation to intentionally building a stronger relationship with herself. We talk about the desire to prove ourselves, the influence of our relationships and past experiences, and the difference between pushing ourselves because we feel inadequate and growing because we believe in who we can become. We also explore how to recognize our blind spots, challenge our own thinking, balance logic with emotion, and hold ourselves accountable without turning discipline into self-punishment. Because ambition isn't necessarily the problem. Sometimes, it's the reason behind it that deserves a closer look. In this conversation, we explore: Why self-awareness is essential to personal growthThe difference between self-discipline and self-punishmentHow the need for external validation can shape our ambitionsWhat it means to act in alignment with the person you want to becomeHow to take accountability without making your worth dependent on your resultsWhy learning to be enough doesn't mean giving up on becoming moreIf you've ever felt that you need to achieve more, prove yourself, or become a different version of who you are before you can finally feel good about yourself, this conversation is for you. From Limitless To Frankly

Limitless was about believing you could have it all. Frankly is about being honest about what it actually takes, what it costs, and what happens when life doesn't go according to plan. In this short introduction, I share the story behind the shift from Limitless to Frankly, and why I'm returning to podcasting with a different perspective. For a long time, I was drawn to the idea that we could always do more, achieve more, and become more. I believed in ambition, in building something meaningful, and in the possibility of creating a life without limits. I still believe in ambition. But my relationship with success, and with the expectations we place on ourselves, has changed. Life has a way of challenging the stories we tell ourselves about who we're supposed to be, what we're supposed to achieve, and what it means to be successful. Sometimes the path looks nothing like we imagined. Sometimes we find ourselves in the middle of something we don't yet understand. Frankly is a space for those conversations. Honest conversations about business and life, about ambition and uncertainty, about the expectations we inherit and the ones we create for ourselves. About the person behind the professional identity, and what happens when we begin to question the things we've always believed. Not because ambition is wrong, or because we should stop wanting more. But because there's more to being human than what we build, what we achieve, or how far we get. This is the next chapter. A little less about having it all figured out, and a little more about being honest about what it means to be here. Welcome to Frankly. The business of being human. The Messy Middle: Who Are You When You Can’t Be Productive?

What happens when the life you’ve built no longer looks the way you imagined it would? In this episode of Frankly, I sit down with Johanna White for an honest conversation about business, identity, illness, and what happens when life forces us to slow down. Design By Jo Branding Agency Founder, Johanna White has spent years building a business, serving her clients, and being someone others can count on. But after a brain tumor returned, she found herself navigating a reality she couldn’t simply work her way through. Recovery brought new limitations, difficult questions, and the uncomfortable experience of having to receive the help she had spent so much of her life giving to others. Together, we explore what happens when our sense of worth becomes tangled up in what we do, what we contribute, and how much we accomplish. We talk about the guilt of resting, the challenge of accepting help, the role of faith in uncertain seasons, and the pressure to find meaning in experiences we haven’t yet made sense of. Perhaps most importantly, we talk about the messy middle: the part of the story where there are no clear answers, no neat resolution, and no guarantee of how things will turn out. Because what if we didn’t have to wait until we were on the other side of something to tell the truth about it? And what if our worth was never dependent on how much we could give, produce, or achieve in the first place? In this episode, we explore: When ambition and productivity become part of our identityLearning to rest without feeling guiltyThe vulnerability of receiving help instead of always being the one who givesFaith, uncertainty, and learning to live without all the answersFinding our worth beyond what we do for othersAllowing ourselves to be in the middle of the story, without knowing how it endsIf you’ve ever struggled to slow down, felt guilty for doing less, or wondered who you are when you can no longer show up in the ways you once did, this conversation is for you. The question to take with you: Who are you when you can’t be who you’ve always been?
