    Growing Up Differently, Figuring Life Out Together - with Ish

    For the second episode of Modern Human, I'm joined by one of my oldest friends, Ish. We've known each other since school, and despite coming from quite different backgrounds, we've always shared a curiosity about life and enjoyed questioning things together. Ish is a dentist, medical student and aspiring surgeon, with a love for running, meditation and pretty much anything that involves hard work. But he's also someone who's spent a lot of time questioning what drives him, what really matters, and what it means to live a good life. We cover a lot of ground, from growing up in a working-class immigrant family and the pressure to make the most of our opportunities, to balancing ambition with inner peace, navigating breakups, finding ourselves through meditation and journaling, and the lessons Ish has taken from volunteering in Greece and Bangladesh. We also explore privilege, religion, therapy, friendship and whether some of the things we're chasing in modern life are actually making us happier. It's a wide-ranging, honest conversation between two old friends - hope you enjoy it!

    Who Are You, Where Are You Going, and Why? With Dori

    For the very first episode of Modern Human, I'm joined by Dori, who has spent the last 25 years coaching leaders and helping people navigate some of life's bigger questions. Dori was also one of the people who trained me as a coach, and someone whose wisdom, stories and outlook on life have had a big impact on me. So there was really nobody else I wanted to kick things off with. We cover quite a bit of ground, from questioning conventional ideas of success and finding what makes us feel alive, to navigating big life changes, the importance of feeling like we matter, and what it means to be a good man in today's world. Along the way, I share a bit about my own journey, we explore why we're so bad at telling people what they mean to us, and Dori shares some brilliant stories with us. No perfect answers, just a really lovely conversation with someone I have a huge amount of respect for. Hope you enjoy it!
