Kitty Genovese — Part 2: The Story Behind the Headlines

In Part 1, we explored Kitty Genovese's life, her community in Kew Gardens, and the events surrounding the night she was murdered in March 1964. Now, in Part 2 of this Face Not Found episode, we continue with what happened after Kitty's death—the investigation, the arrest of Winston Moseley, the evidence presented against him, and the court proceedings that followed. But this case became bigger than a single murder. The way Kitty's death was reported helped create one of the most enduring stories in American media about bystander behavior and the idea that people can remain passive while someone is in danger. In this episode, we'll separate the documented record from the mythology that developed around the case, including the frequently repeated claims about the number of witnesses and what they supposedly did—or didn't—do. Kitty Genovese's story has been retold for decades. This is an attempt to look beyond the headline and remember the woman at the center of it. ⚠️ Listener discretion is advised. This episode discusses murder, sexual violence, and other disturbing subject matter. 🎙️ Listen to Face Not Found on Spotify and watch on YouTube. 🎙️ NEW EPISODES EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 7:00 PMStay connected with Face Not Found:• TikTok: @Ninadadivart• Instagram: @facenotfoundpodcast• YouTube: @facenotfoundpodcast• Spotify: Face Not Found Podcast• Patreon: Face Not Found• Email: facenotfoundpodcast@gmail.com📧 Reach out with case suggestions, business inquiries, corrections, or complaints—because apparently everybody has an opinion. 😂 Just remember: if you’re bringing a correction, bring the receipts. In March 1964, 28-year-old Kitty Genovese was murdered near her home in Kew Gardens, Queens. Her death became one of the most widely discussed crimes in New York City history—not only because of the brutality of the attack, but because of the extraordinary media coverage and public reaction that followed. In Part 1 of this Face Not Found two-part episode, we take a closer look at Kitty Genovese's life, her relationships, the community where she lived, and what happened on the night she was attacked. We'll also examine how the story was reported at the time and separate the documented facts from details that were later challenged or disputed. ⚠️ Listener discretion is advised. This episode discusses murder and other disturbing subject matter. LaToyia Figueroa: The Search for a Missing Mother

In July 2005, 24-year-old LaToyia Figueroa disappeared from Philadelphia while five months pregnant with her second child. What began as a search for a missing young mother eventually became a murder investigation when her body was discovered weeks later in a wooded area outside the city. In this episode of Face Not Found, we walk through LaToyia's life, her disappearance, the investigation that followed, and the evidence that ultimately led authorities to the man convicted in her death. LaToyia's case also became part of a larger national conversation about which missing women receive widespread media attention and which cases can struggle to receive the same level of coverage. This episode is dedicated to remembering LaToyia Figueroa as a person—not simply as a true-crime case. ⚠️ Listener discretion is advised. This episode discusses murder, pregnancy, and other disturbing subject matter. 🎙️ Listen to Face Not Found on Spotify and watch on YouTube. #FaceNotFound #LaToyiaFigueroa #TrueCrimePodcast #PhiladelphiaTrueCrime #MissingPersons 🎙️ NEW EPISODES EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 7:00 PMStay connected with Face Not Found:• TikTok: @Ninadadivart• Instagram: @facenotfoundpodcast• YouTube: @facenotfoundpodcast• Spotify: Face Not Found Podcast• Patreon: Face Not Found• Email: facenotfoundpodcast@gmail.com📧 Reach out with case suggestions, business inquiries, corrections, or complaints—because apparently everybody has an opinion. 😂 Just remember: if you’re bringing a correction, bring the receipts. Abigail Folger: More Than a Manson Murder Victim

Abigail Folger is often remembered as the coffee heiress murdered alongside Sharon Tate—but her life was so much more than the infamous crime that ended it. Born into privilege and of Salvadoran heritage through her mother, Abigail was intelligent, compassionate, politically engaged, and committed to helping underserved communities. On August 9, 1969, Abigail and four others were brutally murdered inside Sharon Tate’s Cielo Drive home by members of the Manson Family. In this episode of Face Not Found, we step beyond the sensational headlines to uncover who Abigail truly was, what happened during her final hours, and how one of America’s most notorious crimes overshadowed the remarkable woman behind the famous last name.
