Why Are Women Less Active Than Men in Cheshire?

Welcome to Well Actually - the Brio podcast where we get into conversations about everyday life, leisure and wellbeing in the Cheshire West and Chester community. For our first episode, co-hosts Emma and Charlie are joined by Brio’s Commercial Director Paula Jamieson to explore an issue that research shows is still a reality in our local borough: women are less physically active than men. But why is that? We’re discussing some of the barriers that can make being active feel intimidating, difficult or simply inaccessible for women – from different experiences of growing up in sport, to time, and feeling comfortable in exercise spaces. This conversation simply scratches the surface of a deep and continually evolving national issue. We’re not here to find a simple solution, but to kickstart a discussion around what we, as a community-based company, can do to remove barriers and help more women and girls feel able, welcome, and confident to be active.
