Farming Full-Time

Adam Kuznia

People have no idea what it's like to farm for a living. Farming Full-Time is about all of it: the money, the stress nobody talks about, and the people who keep showing up anyway. The bills nobody sees from the road. The mental health side of a job where we're taught to be tough while a lot of us are melting down. And the farmers, agronomists and neighbors with stories worth hearing. I'm Adam Kuznia, farmer at heart and agronomist by trade, from True Grit Agronomy in Hawley, Minnesota. We follow the money and the data, not dogma. A True Grit Ag Production.

Farmers Have Been Extinct for 94 Years: Reading the Fuel Bailout Comments

A two-minute video about the farm fuel bailout drew 1,121 Facebook comments. 518 of them said, "you voted for this." 8 percent backed the farmer. In episode 1 of Farming Full-Time, I read the best of them out loud from the shop in Hawley, Minnesota. Then the part nobody can see from the road. The new pickup, the $300 toy tractor, and the half-million-dollar combine get the comments. The fuel bill, the fertilizer bill, the chemical bill, the land rent, and the bank don't. Where bailout money actually goes, why it's paid on planted acres so the biggest farms get the biggest checks, the fair hits from truckers and ranchers, and why I started writing Farming Full-Time in the first place. Next episode: Darren Hughes, who built Laconik, from Australia.
