Fitness Industry Myths: What Are You Actually Training For? | Foundational Flow #4

A bigger bench press is nice. Being able to move through your actual life is a pretty good goal, too. Cody Oakland and Brett Flaherty take a few fitness golden calves out for a walk: recycled gym advice, influencer promises, supplement marketing, and the routines we keep defending simply because we have always done them. In Foundational Flow #4, we talk strength, mobility, balance, whole-body movement, training outdoors, and knowing when an old belief needs an upgrade. Expect personal stories, some Al Bundy references, and a healthy suspicion of the next miracle hack. The conversation also explores the hosts’ views on sunlight, food and daily habits. Personal experiences and proposed health mechanisms are not established treatment advice or a substitute for professional care. What are you actually training for? Grounding, Sunrise & the Art of Getting Outside | Foundational Flow #5

Your house doesn’t need to look like noon at nine at night. And Brett’s lighting choices give us plenty to joke about. Cody Oakland and Brett Flaherty explore grounding, earthing, morning light and the routines that shape their days. We walk through the slides, compare outdoor contact with indoor grounding mats, discuss sleep and evening-light habits, and take a detour into gardens and microgreens. There’s some biology, some personal experience and the usual refusal to make this boring. What do you actually do first thing in the morning? Follow Foundational Flow for more conversations with Cody and Brett. This episode includes the hosts’ experiences and interpretations. Grounding-specific health benefits and proposed mechanisms should not be treated as established medical conclusions or as a substitute for care. Explore Foundational Flow: https://codyoakland.com

Sunlight & Circadian Rhythm: Infrared, UVA & UVB | Foundational Flow #3

Sunlight and circadian rhythm take center stage as Cody Oakland and Brett Flaherty explore infrared, UVA and UVB, following the conversation from morning light to sunset and darkness. What does your everyday light environment look like, and do you ever stop to think about it? In Foundational Flow Podcast #3, we unpack the different parts of the sunlight spectrum, discuss the body clock, and look at the contrast between outdoor light and a day spent under screens and indoor lighting. Along the way, we get into nitric oxide, vitamin D, mitochondria, evening routines and the habits we tend to overlook while chasing the next biohack. Expect real conversation, a little swearing, and a few reminders that your meatsuit lives in an environment, not a supplement aisle. Gym Mistakes: Are You Building Muscle but Losing Mobility? | Foundational Flow

Sunlight, Supplements & the Health-Hack Rabbit Hole

Circadian rhythms are about more than bedtime. Cody Oakland and Brett explore morning sunlight, light after dark and your body clock, then take a detour through supplements and the health-hack rabbit hole. You've looked at the supplement shelf. Have you looked at the lighting? In the first Foundational Flow podcast, we talk about light, darkness, everyday habits and the environment your biology lives in. We also get into grounding, water, local and seasonal food, and how our own thinking about health has changed. We've both done some goofy stuff along the way. Self-correction is part of the job. We discuss ideas from Dr. Jack Kruse, Gerald Pollack, Nick Lane and Robert O. Becker. Expect curiosity, personal experience, a few scientific rabbit holes and some language that didn't fit on local radio. We'd sell you sunlight, but the business model needs work.
