    The Sky is Falling

Jeffrey and Brian discussed organizing local news and briefly talked about AI’s potential effects on software and employment. Testecleese asked that their concerns about AI be recorded as an important issue.   The episode opened with Massachusetts crime stories, including cases involving harm to children and the actions of true-crime commentators. The speakers also discussed cross-state recording laws and the closure of a Massachusetts bar. The discussion moved through the World Series, actor deaths, and alleged abuse by West Virginia foster parents. Testecleese also raised reports of an earthquake near Charleston and possible ash activity at Mount St. Helens.   Brian explained Battle Creek’s connection to Kellogg’s and described state funding for a semi-autonomous crime-fighting drone. The speakers also discussed surveillance concerns and a shooting at a Spirit Halloween store outside Detroit. Jeffrey described an All Saints’ Day event at his church, including children dressing as saints. Brian said he planned to vote early because he would be working on Election Day, before the discussion shifted to midterm-related stories. The speakers discussed political stories involving a public figure’s remarks to Jewish voters and Hunter Biden’s reported relationship with a talent agency. They continued with claims and comparisons concerning the finances and work of the Biden and Clinton families. The speakers debated Barack Obama’s political appeal and campaign activity, then discussed an Alaska race involving two candidates named Dan Sullivan. They alleged that the same-name candidacy was designed to mislead voters and considered possible legal consequences.
