    A broom swept over my foot!

    Office hours began with a discussion on biblical perspectives about marriage. Stephanie asked about friends who were considering having a wedding ceremony without going through the government, which led to an extensive conversation about the importance of legal marriage documentation and avoiding living in falsehood. The conversation then shifted to spiritual topics, including whether demonic spirits can inhabit inanimate objects. Pastor Amos explained that, while Scripture provides no precedent for demons possessing objects, evil spirits can influence people and may become associated with or follow certain objects. He also emphasized that believers are constantly engaged in spiritual warfare but are protected by the Holy Spirit. Several participants shared personal experiences involving fear responses, cultural superstitions, and challenges to their faith. Andrea discussed losing her job and the importance of renewing her mind, while others shared experiences related to perceived demonic influences in homes and the need to overcome fear-based responses through the renewing of the mind with Scripture.     Don't rush the delay

    We are exploring Numbers 14:39-45. In these passages, the Israelites override God's instructions to stay in the wilderness for 40 years. Instead of accepting God's delay, they attempt to conquer the promised land and they are completely defeated. The revelation we are going to process is that God may intentionally delay us, which is designed to grow our faith, so we should not try to speed up the growth process.     From Dating to Engagement in One Year

    For Christians who desire marriage, a healthy relationship can move from dating to engagement within a year through intentional discernment. Begin with three months of exclusive dating focused solely on getting to know one another without making marriage commitments. If the relationship shows clear potential, continue with six weeks to three months of premarital counseling with a trusted pastor or counselor to evaluate biblical, emotional, and practical compatibility. At the conclusion of counseling, make a mutual decision about whether to pursue marriage. Once both people have agreed, set a wedding date, and then the proposal can serve as a joyful celebration of a decision that has already been made together—not as the moment the decision is first introduced.
