One Church (Acts 2) 4- Living The Mission

If faith is real, it shows up somewhere besides a church seat. We wrestle with that uncomfortable truth by walking through Acts 2:42-47 and asking what “One Church” looks like when it actually lives the mission through service, generosity, and everyday sacrifice.  We talk about the two directions of service we see in the early church: serving each other and serving the mission of Jesus. Along the way, a simple reminder hits hard: “service to others is the rent we pay for being human.” That idea turns ordinary, inconvenient moments into opportunities for discipleship. We also unpack a short story about two workers with water glasses that exposes what drives us most: checking whether others have enough, or checking whether they have more than us.  From there, we shift into mission-mindedness. Like a constant state of readiness, Christian purpose means living as salt and light, not keeping faith trapped in the “shaker.” We name the tension many churches feel with the 80/20 reality and move into a clear contrast between a believer and a disciple: devotion that leads to action, and sacrifice that quietly forms us even when nobody notices.  If you want a practical next step, we close with a direct challenge to serve through prayer for someone you don’t know. One Church (Acts 2) 1- Unified in the Bible

Culture can split a church faster than almost anything: politics, hot-button issues, worship style, even the little stuff that somehow turns into a big deal. We want something better than fragile peace, so we start a new One Church series by going straight to Acts 2, the moment the Holy Spirit falls, the gospel is preached, and the early church is born. Then we zoom in on one line that explains why they stayed together: “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching” (Acts 2:42). We make a clear claim: church unity depends on biblical authority. If we treat the Bible as optional, our opinions become the loudest voice in the room. If Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit and stands as the final authority for doctrine and truth, it can correct every side, including ours. We also spend time on Christian apologetics and the credibility of Jesus, because discipleship only makes sense if Jesus truly is Lord and the risen Messiah. From there, we get practical. We talk about how emotionally charged topics spike our reactions, why objective truth gives us room to breathe, and how the Word of God is meant to shape our views rather than be shaped by them. We close with tangible next steps for Bible study, community, and prayer, because knowing God rightly is not a solo project. If you’re a longtime believer, skeptical, or somewhere in between, listen all the way through, then share it with someone you trust. One Church (Acts 2) 2- Your Mission Has A Name

Your life has a mission, but it is probably not the one you keep writing on résumés. From the start, we push back on the pressure to define your purpose as a career, a goal, or a personal brand, and we ask a sharper question: who is your mission? Derek Spencer, student pastor at Real Life Church in Bowling Green, brings a clear challenge for anyone who feels stuck, busy, or isolated. The person beside you, across the room, at your job, or in your neighborhood might be the assignment God already put in your path. We build the case for godly community and Christian discipleship using Acts 2, where believers devote themselves to teaching, fellowship, meals, and prayer, and we face the honest reality that community can feel like hard work. The “flossing” analogy makes it simple: it is easy to skip what seems small until decay shows up, and then you realize you do not have people to call when life caves in. We also talk about church hurt, gossip, and why a mission minded church refuses to give up on each other even when people stumble. The practical path forward is straightforward and demanding: repentance first, then outward effort, then responsibility for others. We unpack repentance as real change, baptism as public obedience, sanctification as inside out healing, and the Holy Spirit’s gifts as something God gives you to bless the people around you. The closing picture from Finding Nemo ties it together: when everyone swims their own direction, the net wins; when everyone swims down together, everyone gets free. If you want stronger relationships, a healthier church community, and a clearer sense of purpose, press play, then take one next step. One Church (Acts 2) 3- United In Prayer

Prayer can turn into a last-minute order we place when life gets loud, but that version of faith leaves us rushed, anxious, and stuck. Today we slow everything down and look at prayer the way Scripture actually describes it: an intimate, honest conversation with God that includes worship, gratitude, confession, repentance, forgiveness, and long stretches of listening. We start in Acts 2, where the Holy Spirit arrives with power and the New Testament church is born, then we follow Acts 2:42 to the part we often neglect most, unity in prayer. We walk step-by-step through the Lord’s Prayer as a practical template for a deeper prayer life. “Our Father in heaven” is more than a greeting; it re-positions our hearts and reminds us we have real access to God because Jesus tore the veil. From there we move into praise, surrender to God’s will, daily provision, confession, forgiving others, and spiritual protection. If you’ve ever wondered why your prayers feel unheard, we also talk through biblical heart-checks like unconfessed or cherished sin, doubt, wrong motives, ignoring the needs of others, mistreating your spouse, and holding unforgiveness, plus the possibility that God is steering you toward something better. Then we get painfully practical: what does it mean to “pray without ceasing” in daily life, and what could change if God became our first reflex instead of our last resort? We close with a picture of intercession that raises the stakes, Abraham pleading for a city, and a challenge to become one church that prays like someone’s life depends on it, because it does. Merciful One: Mercy and Repentance (Jonah 03)

God doesn’t just tolerate messy people, he pursues them. Jonah chapter 3 starts with a line that can reset your whole week: “Then the Lord spoke to Jonah a second time.” After the storm, the fear, and the fish, God doesn’t cancel Jonah. He recommissions him. And if you’ve ever felt stuck in a cycle of regret, avoidance, or spiritual burnout, that one sentence hits like oxygen. We trace the story as Jonah finally walks into Nineveh with a simple message, and the city responds with an overwhelming, public repentance: fasting, prayer, sackcloth and ashes, and yes, even the animals get pulled into the moment. That strange detail becomes a practical mirror. Repentance is not just feeling sorry inside. It’s change that reaches the “seen and unseen” parts of life: what we watch, what we spend, how we treat people, what we hide, and what we refuse to surrender. If your phone, your habits, or your relationships keep dragging you back, this conversation brings repentance down to street level. Then we sit with the mercy of God and the reality of forgiveness we did not earn. God warns before destruction, invites people to turn, and shows compassion to anyone willing to seek him. We close with a kintsugi picture of redemption: broken pieces repaired with gold, not to erase the cracks, but to make the restoration visible. If you’re ready for a second chance that actually produces change, press play, then subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find it.
