One thing that’s always overwhelming is thinking that I should be “smarter” when it comes to classical music. The host of this podcast takes pains to make certain it’s fun, informative, and easy. She’ll take a composer or a theme and walk you through the pieces, the history, and why it matters. Enjoyable!

Salon97 does such an awesome job of not only reminding us how and why classical music is relevant, awesome and flat out fun. Thank you, Cariwyl, for making it such a joy to learn more about the composers and classical music in general!

I don’t know nothing about nothing when it comes to classical music. But I’d like to. And the Salon97 podcast makes it so painfully easy. 5-10 minutes, clear, focused talk-then-music about a specific composer, musical terminology or music for a certain time of year (I’d way easier for a greenhorn like me to think of music as “music for a spring day than a ‘Contata in G” What’s a Contata anyway?). The host is plain spoken, friendly and approachable. This is a lot of what learning about classical music should be. I want to say this to everyone who instead thinks you should spend 75$ on a symphony ticket and wear uncomfortable shoes for 3 hours. Instead, I’ll just tell them to listen to this podcast.
