I’m only on episode 3 and I’m worried I won’t be able to continue because Marlon drives me crazy already. He is….such a MAN. But not in a good way. He interrupts her, talks over her, and gratuitously corrects her for no real educational gain for the listener, it’s just to get the last word or be in the corrector position. And you can tell he doesn’t really think about it either, it’s just the baseline of their relationship and it feels so insidious that it’s not even on purpose, it just is.
From a Portuguese learning standpoint, it helps quite a bit because I am quite fluent in Spanish so I can map words from one language to the other, but in these first 3 episodes they don’t often actually define each word or phrase as they say it, they just say it slowly. So if you were starting from zero I think it would be hard to actually build some vocabulary. Maybe it gets better as the episodes continue. But to be able to hear the pronunciation slowly and see the transcripts is fabulous.
