Setting a Course

“The Naked Time” 60th-anniversary reflections. The Enterpris* arrives at the dying world of Psi 2000 to evacuate the Federation outpost and observe the planet’s disintegration. Spock and Lieutenant Tormolen return to the ship, beaming back after trying to ascertain the whereabouts of the outpost’s crew. The Lieutenant unknowingly brings back the same disease responsible for killing the outpost’s crew which threatens the crew of the Enterprise’s ability to stay alive while in such close orbit of the perishing world. Wrestling With Thoughts on God

“Where No Man Has Gone Before” 60th-anniversary reflections On a mission to the edge of the galaxy, the Enterprise recovers the disaster recorder of the SS Valiant, an Earth ship lost two centuries earlier. Its final entries point to a frantic search for information on ESP—extrasensory perception—and a captain ordering the destruction of his own ship. Captain Kirk takes the Enterprise into the galactic barrier and the ship encounters strange activity that may have been what did in the Valiant. As electric charges strike the bridge, Gary Mitchell and Elizabeth Dehner are struck. Mitchell's eyes glow silver, and he begins to exhibit unusual powers that grow by the hour. His contempt for the mere mortals around him grows as well, and Kirk must decide whether to maroon his old friend on a barren rock—or kill him while he still can. Check Yes If You Like Me

“Charlie X” 60th-anniversary reflections While investigating the planet Thasus, the crew of the Antares takes in a young crash survivor who had been stranded alone for 14 years. The boy, Charlie Evans, is then transferred to the Enterprise where his teenage angst becomes amplified as he tries to fit in with other humans. Attempts by Kirk, Rand, and others to help him acclimate are made far more difficult thanks to Charlie’s psychokinetic powers. In the Key of A Minor

Great way to catch all the wonderful podcasts on the network, plus a few others! When I started listening to Trek.fm, I listened to the entire back catalogs of Literary Treks and Melodic Treks. Once caught up, I wasn’t sure what to dive into next. So I just picked up with every show where they were at! At some point I will go back and listen to all of The Orb. But there’s just so much good content coming out all the time now! It’s almost hard to keep up, but I do!

This is such a low energy podcast I had to check several times to make sure it was still running. No insights and no reason to ever try another episode. I found no analysis of Discovery and as a huge Trek fan I have been disappointed by the direction the show has taken. But the podcast just did nothing...no insight or commentary. They were barely able to bring themselves to mumble nonsense. A hard pass.
