    Final Fantasy Resonance Impressions, EA Closes Down Bioware # 515

    An absolutely sad day in the history of video games has dawned as Electronic Arts chose earlier in the week to close down the legendary Bioware studio meaning the last project they were working on Mass Effect: Universe (ME 5) will not see the light of day as the game has been canceled and the studios 400 employees lose their jobs in the process as well. Sean and a returning Randy discuss the implications and also the broader scope for EA as they look to restructure after the sale to the Saudi PIF. Randy and Sean have also been playing Final Fantasy Resonance so the duo discuss their thoughts on franchise's return to turn-based 2D games and if this hits as well as some of the regular FF games.     Next-Gen Consoles Costs How Much? Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Impressions # 514

    If you thought next-gen consoles were going to be expensive at $1000, how about we try $1200, 1400, or even $1600? This is how much Project Helix could cost, reportedly, if Microsoft doesn't subsidize any of the cost. Sony's PlayStation 6 may also see its price balloon if the price of just two of its components being nearly $700 is correct. So at what point does next-gen gaming get too expensive? Is there even a reason to have it released at those prices? Not to mention, it may get delayed to 2028 as well. XBOX may release its next-gen handheld first in 2027; another report surfaces about à la carte Xbox Game Pass, and Sony could be greenlighting a Destiny 1 remaster too.     Valor Mortis Impressions, XBOX Looking for More XP # 513

    XBOX goes beyond traditional gaming not only with the announcement of its other media initiative called XP but also possibly into using A.I. more directly in gaming with XBOX Labs. Tie this together with Epic Games fully embracing A.I. in their games, and are we headed for this A.I. push to be accelerated even more? Sean and Marc voice their concerns, while also looking into what else could work from XBOX in films and TV too.     Control Resonant Impressions, Are Games Too Cheap? # 511

    We are still in the middle of the fall release season, with big games coming out every week or even multiple big games in the same week. Well, this is one of those with Control: Resonant last week and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve out now for anyone who pre-ordered, and there's more to come after that as well. Sean's been playing Control: Resonant and Adventures of Elliott, while Marc has been playing Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve and more Onimusha: Way of the Sword. There's more fallout from the XBOX reset last week could we say that XBOX has no clear vision? And WARDOGS CEO says that the problem with game development is that it costs so much to develop games that they should be more expensive. Are games too cheap? Or is it more about not overdoing it in how much it costs to make the game.     HALO Goes to Activision, Onimusha: Way of the Sword Impressions # 510

    After rumors swirled over the weekend, it did in fact happen on Tuesday, a second round of XBOX "reset" layoffs occurred with HALO Studios being hard hit with 268 employees in all, with most coming from this studio, losing their jobs. HALO Studios itself takes a small team over to Activision where the next HALO game will now be made. Can the developers of Call of Duty turn HALO back into a winner yet again? Also, several other studio changes have happened and unfortunately, Ninja Theory is closing down. Sean and Marc give their thoughts on what happened and if any of this could reset in positivity for XBOX moving forward. Also, loud rumors caused XBOX to have to answer questions about whether Day One games would be ending after the end of this year. XBOX itself didn't close the door on this happening. So does this mean we can expect that the biggest draw of Game Pass is ending soon? Plus, Marc's been playing Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Sean saw the Zach Cregger Resident Evil movie, and has been playing The Blood of Dawnwalker, Sony has a patent that would let remote A.I. repair software issues, Microsoft has a patent that could put ads in during gameplay, Bungie isn't done with Destiny just yet, Final Fantasy VII Revelation will have an auto level-up system, GTA VI is getting a music album, and more!     Blizzard's Huge Blizzcon 2026, XBOX Saves Hideo Kojima's PHYSINT # 509

    Blizzard had some major announcements at Blizzcon 2026 including Diablo V coming in 2029, a new Starcraft game coming in 2030, Diablo getting an animated show with Netflix, Diablo coming to Diablo IV, and the announcement World of Warcraft Forever too. Are Sean and Marc excited about for anything announced? Is Marc going to hop into the new/old WOW? XBOX also made news this week by literally saving Hideo Kojima's upcoming PHYSINT which is believed to be his original take on the action espionage genre since he last worked on a Metal Gear game. Sony made a statement about why they canceled the game too. What does this say about where Sony's at? And should there be faith in XBOX at all with this? Considering we haven't seen much from OD which is Kojima's horror game that also is being funded by Microsoft.     The Legend of Zelda 40th Celebration, Huge Steam Leak of Upcoming Games # 508

    The latter half of the gaming year begins in earnest with Tokyo Game Show on the horizon. We’ve already been treated to showcases from two of the big three console makers, as both Sony and Nintendo have broadcast a State of Play and two Directs, one in celebration of the Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary and a regular Nintendo Direct. Sean and Marc discuss the major highlights from each, what they are most looking forward to, and whether Nintendo is losing anything by releasing the Ocarina of Time Remake in November. Sean’s also played the entire Final Fantasy Resonance Chapter 1 Demo that released on September 3, and he has thoughts on how it delivers on everything we’ve been missing from turn-based FF’s and sets up an intriguing tale as well.
