1 John 2:15–17 // Some Loves Are Meant to Be Denied

We often hear the saying, “If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it’s yours.” But John offers a different perspective: some things we love need to be let go of—and never welcomed back. In 1 John 2:15–17, he warns us against giving our hearts to the lusts and pride of this world, revealing that these desires are not from the Father and are destined to pass away. Instead of investing our lives in what won't last, we're called to love God, obey His will, and pursue what remains forever.

1 John 2:7-11 // What’s Love Got to Do with It?

What’s love got to do with being a Christian? According to John, everything. The command to love God’s people is both an ancient command and a new reality, revealed perfectly in Jesus and now made visible in His people. This message explores why genuine love is a defining mark of walking in God’s light—and how being filled and satisfied in Christ enables us to truly love one another.

1 John 2:3-6 // How Do You Know You Know Jesus?

It’s possible to know a lot about Jesus without truly knowing Him. In 1 John 2:3–6, John gives us a practical way to recognize genuine faith: those who know Jesus will keep His commands. This obedience doesn’t earn us a relationship with God; it grows out of the relationship we already have with Him, maturing our love for God along the way. And as we follow Jesus, His life becomes the pattern for our own—we learn to walk just as He walked.

1 John 1:10-2:2 // The Advocate and the Atoning Sacrifice

What happens when a Christian sins? In 1 John 1:10–2:2, John shows us that while sin is serious, we are not left without hope. This message unpacks the powerful truth that Jesus is both our atoning sacrifice and our advocate—continually applying His finished work on our behalf.

    1 John 1:8-9 // Seeing Ourselves Clearly

A distorted view of ourselves can lead to a dangerous denial of sin. This message reveals why real Christians don’t pretend to be sinless—but walk in the light through honest confession.

1 John 1:5-7 // The Marks of a Real Christian

Many people claim to know God—but how can you know if it’s real? In this passage, John exposes false assurance and gives four clear marks of a true Christian: a genuine confession, a transformed life, real fellowship with other believers, and ongoing cleansing from sin. This message shows that Christianity is more than words—it’s a life lived in the light of who God is. And it calls each of us to examine whether our faith is truly rooted in the real Jesus.

1 John 1:1-4 // The Case for the Real Jesus

In John’s day, Jesus was on trial—not in a courtroom, but in the court of public opinion. False teachers were spreading distorted views of who He is, and believers were being swayed. In response, John presents a powerful, eyewitness defense of the real Jesus—eternal, fully God, and fully man. This message shows why believing in the true Jesus is essential, because everything—fellowship, joy, and eternal life—hangs in the balance.
