    #009: Skills vs. Feels

Welcome to the Rhythm N' Groove Podcast, we apologize for missing the podcast in the last few weeks. Lone and I have been reevaluating our priorities and as we said in episode #001 of the podcast, it's okay to change and adjust your goals, learn from your mistakes, and correct them as you go. That's what we've been doing and we explain our reasons in this episode of the podcast. We share Lone's progress on developing his fingerstyle tabs, and Haze's progress on the guitar. We also discuss our opinions (no spoilers) on the recent movie Whiplash, and compare it to one of our favorite movies, The Legend of 1900. We talk about how skills should be used to show off the music, and not the other way around. We would love to hear what our listeners have to say about either or both of the movies, and the musicians and themes featured in the movies. Please share your thoughts with us! Send your emails to contact@rhythmngroove.com or join the conversation at the Rhythm N' Groove Facebook group. We look forward to hearing from you!   Resources mentioned on the podcast:   Movie: Whiplash Movie: The Legend of 1900   Find us at: Lone's Instagram: @guitarlone Haze's Instagram: @hazelliewong   Website: rhythmngroove.com/podcast Email: contact@rhythmngroove.com Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/rhythmngroove Instagram: @rhythm_n_groove Twitter: @rhythm_n_groove   Song: Stolen by Dashboard Confessional   You can subscribe to the podcast via RSS , Stitcher or iTunes

#007: Perfection and perfectionism - What do they really mean?

In this episode of theRhythm N' Groove Podcast, we talk about perfection and perfectionism and what they really mean. We share our thoughts and opinions about perfection and perfectionism and why they are not necessarily good things. Perfectionism can sometimes cripple you and stop you from achieving your goals, and even if you could achieve "perfection" when it comes to music, that perfection might make your music sound too boring and robotic. Imperfections are what make you and your music interesting to the audience! We encourage you to share your thoughts about perfection and perfectionism with us, or write in just to say hi. Send your emails us at contact@rhythmngroove.com. We look forward to hearing from you!   Resources mentioned on the podcast: Publishing Profits Podcast - Episode 040: Overcome Perfectionism and Exercise Your Creative Genius with Stefan Pylarinos   Quotes mentioned on the podcast: Striving for excellence motivates you, striving for perfection demoralizes. - Harriet Braiker If you look for perfection, you'll never be content. - Leo Tolstoy Have no fear of perfection, you'll never reach it. - Salvador Dali   Find us at: Website: rhythmngroove.com/podcast Email: contact@rhythmngroove.com Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/rhythmngroove Instagram: @rhythm_n_groove Twitter: @rhythm_n_groove   Song: Perfect by Pink   You can subscribe to the podcast via RSS , Stitcher or iTunes
