    Why Would Jesus Say "Eat My Flesh"?! | Jesus Said What?!

    They came to Jesus for what He could do for them. Then He said something so strange that many of His followers walked away. In Week 4 of "Jesus Said What?!", Pastor Brent Garrard walks through John 6∶50–59, where Jesus tells the crowd He just fed that He is the living bread from heaven, and that whoever eats His flesh and drinks His blood will live forever. The real question: will we let Jesus change our expectations, or will our expectations decide whether we keep following Him? Three things Jesus calls us to: → Let what you want from Jesus bow to what He wants for you — He is King, not the version of Him we are comfortable with → Feed on Jesus, not just His gifts — We don't just need better things, we need Jesus → Trust Him while your understanding is still developing — "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." We also talk about what to do when following Jesus costs you something you thought He would protect: the promotion that went to someone else, the relationship that changed, the outcome you made a condition of trusting Him.     Why Getting Even Never Works | Jesus Said What?!

    Someone hurt you — and every part of you wants them to pay. Jesus says something almost nobody wants to hear. In Week 3 of "Jesus Said What?!", Pastor Brent Garrard walks through Matthew 5∶38–48: turn the other cheek, go the extra mile, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you. The real question: will our response be determined by the person who hurt us, or by the Father who loves us? Three things Jesus calls us to: → Surrender the desire to get even — Their wrong doesn't give us permission to do wrong → Seek the good of the person who hurt you — Love them before they've earned it → Let your Father's love become the pattern for yours — Love that doesn't stop where our circle ends We also talk about what loving an enemy does NOT mean: staying in danger, hiding wrongdoing, or instantly restoring trust. This verse does more than summarize the gospel, it reveals the heart of God and the starting point of His mission. At its core, mission does not begin with human strategy, obligation, or programs, but with the deep, self-giving love of a Father who refuses to remain distant from a broken world. As we begin this series, we are invited to slow down, revisit this foundation and truth, and allow the Father's love to realign our hearts, our faith, and our lives with His mission for the world At In Focus Church, love God, love people and reach the world with God's love is more than a mission statement it is how we want to live.
