The Avenging Hour

John and Jason are wonderful hosts that take the time to lovingly lampoon a whole host of Avengers titles. However, they aren’t afraid to give credit to really good issues, too! I find this podcast is a great way to keep me reading through the Avengers run and revisit the West Coast Avengers title that I read a while ago. Start with an issue you may be familiar with and go from there!

This podcast shows the love of comics in general that Jason and John have, along with the effort they have put into researching cultural references, scientific accuracy, and literary remarks in the books. The use of humor and critical analysis are wonderful! I'm glad that the letters in and recognizable authors was included in the podcast. Great podcast!

This is a great podcast for anyone who is interested in the origin and history of The Avengers and for anyone who wants to hear about the "why" behind the publication, creation, & distribution of Marvel's flagship comic book. I especially enjoy learning about Stan Lee and the comic book industry at this time in history so in a way it's a little like "Stuff You Missed In History Class" for the Avengers. John and Jason have a lively and at times comical banter going about the plots, characters, and the difficulty of relating to these original stories and the seemingly aimless trajectory of the team. I especially enjoy Jason's tongue in cheek issue summaries which have me laughing out loud every time! John provides detail and his own unique brand of humor to the reviews that leaves me wanting more! Excellent podcast and for someone who's never read the Avengers comic book, I'm learning a lot!
