Untold Italy travel podcast

So nice to hear someone talking about her ancestors from Le Marche. My great grandparents came from San Severino Marche and settled in the coal mining area of NE Pennsylvania. Marche not on the radar much for travel or the past major immigration to the US.

This podcast is one of my favorites about Italy. They cover a wide variety of topics and talk about parts of Italy that others skip. If you are planning a trip to Italy you should listen to this podcast.

Lately it’s just a vehicle to sell their own trips. I understand they want to monetize the pod but it’s too much now.

This show was one of the main ones I listened to in preparation for a trip to Italy. I’m so glad I was able to listen to many episodes. The information was very helpful and I found it to be correct. I’m glad I heard the episode about how to dress for the heat. Even though we traveled at the end of September, Florence was unbelievably hot and humid. I was prepared with wicking T’s and a skirt that I wore each day with the biker shorts-style undergarment for keeping my thighs from chaffing. I knew to look for the free water fountains to fill my bottle and even found a sparkling water dispenser at the coliseum in Rome. I’d say don’t stress about what your shoes look like and go for comfort. We saw several people fall down on the very uneven cobblestones. I mostly wore simple hiking shoes by day and saved the sandals for dinner. We walked over 100 miles in less than 2 weeks. Also, we heeded the advice about pick-pockets. Several of my husbands work colleagues reported having wallets, ID’s, and money stolen. And one person had her phone ripped from her hand while using it. We came home with everything just fine. I wore a crossbody bag and my husband wore a crossbody small backpack in front , both with locking zippers. I made phone wrist lanyards out of paracord for both of us that we used at all times. Also, the advice to get out of the city was great. We loved Sorrento. So beautiful along the cliffs. I also benefited from learning some Italian before our trip with Michele from the Intrepid Italian, among others. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. The Italians really do appreciate your efforts. I literally saw their eyes light up when I spoke Italian with them. We had a wonderful time and would like to go back. Thank you so much! Gratzie Mille!
