    This is the third episode of Ocean School, the temporary open art school created by the art collective Ocean School Collective (OSC) as part of their 2025 Goetemann Environmental/Installation Artist Residency sponsored by the Rocky Neck Art Colony at the Ocean Alliance on Rocky Neck in Gloucester, Massachusetts from September 4th to September 28, 2025,  In this episode, artist-philosopher Kate Farrington, Ph.D. (whose title at OSC is “Chief Curriculum Officer”) engages in a far-ranging conversation with two other philosophers, Ocean School Collective (OSC) member María Patricia Tinajero, Ph.D. (whose title at OSC is “Chief Value Officer”), and Dominique Walmsley, Ph.D., LMHC, a Seattle-based psychotherapist with training in architecture and philosophy. In this episode, artist-philosopher Kate Farrington, Ph.D. (whose title at OSC is “Chief Curriculum Officer”) gives a basic introduction to the philosophical framework of the project. Topics include: History of the Ocean School Collective, basic outline of the collective’s plan for the G.A.R. Residency at the Ocean Alliance for the month of September 2025, as well as an introduction to her background and the philosophical framework of the residency as a “place-as-medium” project. Listeners are invited to dive into the world of whales with OSC through speculative fabulation as a way to participate in a new environmental ethic called “ocean thinking.”
