Here at Use Your Words - we are two friends that decided to create a podcast for Bible believing Christians that care about news and culture. While not every week will focus on current news and/or culture - we will continually focus on the single thread through everything - our faith in Christ. We each have different passions and bring those passions to the forefront - music, faith, mental health, politics, news, worldview, and how all these things tie together. Join us as we learn, grow, and continue to become better each week. Interact with us on our social media accounts or email (uywords@gmail.com). Disagree - but be polite and Use Your Words.

A Personal Conversation: Part 1
In this episode of Use Your Words, we're having an open and honest conversation about what it means to be a Christian that is committed to living by what the Bible says, but also happens to be attracted to others of the same sex/gender. Aaron leads the conversation and asks the questions that he's always wanted to ask of Paul. We know this can be a sensitive topic, so we recommend listening to it first without children around on your own before deciding if it's appropriate to listen to it around children. We're keeping it real and honest, and we hope this conversation will help those who are struggling with this issue. So, tune in to Use Your Words now and join us for this important conversation!

Christopher Yuan, the son of Chinese immigrants, discovered at an early age that he was different. He was attracted to other boys. As he grew into adulthood, his mother, Angela, hoped to control the situation. Instead, she found that her son and her life were spiraling out of control—and her own personal demons were determined to defeat her.
Years of heartbreak, confusion, and prayer followed before the Yuans found a place of complete surrender, which is God’s desire for all families. Their amazing story, told from the perspectives of both mother and son, offers hope for anyone affected by homosexuality.
God calls all who are lost to come home to him. Casting a compelling vision for holy sexuality, Out of a Far Country speaks to prodigals, parents of prodigals, and those wanting to minister to the gay community.
"But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him." - Luke 15:20

ABC: Knowing God Chapter 11
This week we discuss chapter 11 of Knowing God by J.I. Packer. During this episode we talk about the central premise of Packer's book, which is to know God through interaction with Him and learning about Him and how important it is to follow His Word regardless of what our own selfish desires may want. Through knowing that God is truth, and that there can be nothing but truth from God - we learn not only a lot about how we as humans should live but more about Who God is himself.

"Messy in Heaven" - A Disappointing Drum and Bass Song
This week's episode of Use Your Words Podcast is all about Messy in Heaven, a song by 21-year-old Venby which is part of the resurgence of drum and bass in Britain and Europe. It charted highly in the UK (3,1) and relatively high in the US (34,40) and is meant to be an anti-drug anthem. Although the song was inspired by a dream of Jesus looking intoxicated, the author says that it was not meant to be controversial or insulting song. Venby is one of a few female drum and bass artists and although only her second song appears to show that in the general world, she will have a very strong career - even if Aaron and Paul may have their own thoughts on the song.

Music Analysis 2: Breaking The Habit By Linkin Park
Welcome to episode 2 of music analysis where we talk about the fact that Linkin Park has some good music. But beyond that we look at this song from a few points of view - how is it musically, lyrically, how is the music video and how it ties in with the song, and how does the song fit in with the Bible. You may think come on there is nothing to discuss here - its a quick five minute song. But you would be wrong - we spend almost an hour and a half breaking down this song and what it means when they sing the words "I'm breaking the Habit tonight"

Good Discussions and Banter
It’s fun listening to this podcast and they provide good discussion and insights.
Good idea - needs a lot of work
Jumped into my first episode for the conversation on transgender athletes. I always appreciate a genuine conversation between friends to learn and grow, but this was hard to listen to. I’m glad the main host streamlined the conversation and had obviously done some prior reading before jumping into the discussion...because the other two definitely did not.
If you want to publish a conversation on transgender individuals participating in sports, you should probably have a MINIMAL understanding on how/why someone identifies as transgender. It’s definitely helpful to know what testosterone is. I also found it quite distasteful and offensive to throw out that someone “just decided to” identify as another gender. I’ll add here that I identify as a cisgender man, so I seem less biased.
I think it’s very revealing that one of the hosts literally fell asleep during the conversation. This did not come across as enlightening, nor intriguing. I recommend you go find another podcast where legitimate conversations can be found.
Learned a lot
Communiication has always fascinated me. This one definitely scratches that itch.
