A Different Take on Screen Time - Revisit

We all know too much screen time isn’t good for kids—and our instinct as parents is to protect them from it. But when fear shapes how we manage screens at home, it can quickly turn into shame the moment they pick one up. In today’s world, where screens are woven into so much of daily life, the real challenge is to face that reality with thoughtfulness – and to make choices guided by our values, not by guilt. In this favorite episode from the archive, Dr. Becky sits down with screen time expert Ash Brandon, EdS (@thegamereducator) to talk about the moral judgments, practical boundaries, and family-specific choices that shape our approach to screens. * Thank you to our partners for making this episode possible: SmartyPants: Shop SmartyPants Vitamins at Target, Walmart, or Amazon today Frida: Shop Frida at Amazon, Target, and Walmart today Pampers Easy Ups: Start your potty training journey with Peppa Pig Pampers Easy Ups Care.com: For a limited time, you can use the code BECKY35 to save 35% on a Care.com Premium Membership.* *Offer applies to initial term of Care.com membership subscriptions. Ep 241: Beyond Medication: Natural Ways to Support Kids with ADHD, with Dana Kay

Send us Fan Mail ADHD affects nearly 1 in 9 children in the United States, and many parents wonder whether medication is their only option. In this episode, I sit down with Dana Kay, founder of the ADHD Thrive Institute, to discuss practical lifestyle strategies that may help support children with ADHD symptoms. Dana also shares her personal journey raising a son with ADHD and how that experience inspired her work helping thousands of families. While medication remains an evidence-based treatment that helps many children, this conversation focuses on additional tools parents can consider alongside medical care. We discuss why changes like a protein-rich breakfast, consistent sleep routines, regular exercise, parent training, and small practical changes that can make a meaningful difference over time. About Dana K Dana Kay is a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, founder of the ADHD Thrive Institute, host of The Soaring Child podcast, and author of the international bestselling book Thriving with ADHD. After her own son was diagnosed with ADHD at age four, she dedicated her career to helping families address lifestyle factors that may influence ADHD symptoms.
