उनका असली नाम सैयद इब्राहिम खान था। 'रस खान' को रस की ख़ान कहा जाता है और हिन्दी साहित्य में कृष्ण भक्त तथा रीतिकालीन कवियों में इनका महत्त्वपूर्ण स्थान है। कृष्ण-भक्ति से प्रभावित होकर इन्होने गोस्वामी विट्ठलनाथ जी से दीक्षा ली थी और ब्रज भूमि में जाकर बस गए थे। His birth name was Sayyad Ibrahim and is known to have lived in Amroha, India. Raskhan was his pen name in Hindi poet. In his early years, he became a follower of Lord Krishna and learned the religion from Goswami Vitthalnath and began living in Vrindavan and spent his whole life there.
