I did not attend this wedding, but the story is like a legend in my family. So, just to paint the picture we are a large immigrant family on the east cost (9 aunts/uncles). One of my cousins was getting married in Canada and all of the US fam. drove up to the wedding. The father of their bride did not like the groom. The day before the wedding my uncles went out for drinks, and returned home at like 7am - the wedding was at 10. The father of the bride refused to get ready/dressed and calling my aunt and cousin every name in the book, saying he wasn’t going to let his daughter get married and if she did she would be dead to him etc etc. my aunt tried to calm him down but his response was to cut off his own wedding ring and destroy everything in his way, including decorations that my aunt had spent hundred of hours on. At some point a gun was involved and he threatened to unalive himself.. I’m not sure how things deescalated, but my cousin did get married and spent about 20y without talking to her dad.
