    The Invite Review & Discussion

The Invite is a 2026 dramedy directed by Olivia Wilde, written by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones, remaking the 2020 Spanish film The People Upstairs or, Sentimental, in Spanish by Cesc Gay, which was in turn an adaptation of his play Els veïns de dalt / Los vecinos de arriba. The film stars Seth Rogan as Joe and Olivia Wilde as Angela, a couple whose marriage is on thin ice. When their upstairs neighbors Pina and Hawk, played by Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton, visit for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places. Have they reignited the spark or lit the match that burns it all down? Scary Movie (2026) Review & Discussion

Scary Movie is a horror spoof directed by Michael Tiddes and written by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans, and Rick Alvarez. As a parody of legacy sequels and the Scream series in particular, it follows Sara Campbell (Olivia Rose Keegan), daughter of the original movie's Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris), who returns to her hometown with her conspicuously suspicious boyfriend Jack (Cameron Scott Roberts) after her legally distinctive younger sister Tuesday (Savannah Lee Nassif) is stabbed by the also legally distinctive Ghostface killer. The ensuing murders reunite Cindy with her high school friends Shorty (Marlon Wayans), Brenda (Regina Hall), Ray (Shawn Wayans), along with problematically special officer Doofy Gilmore (Dave Sheridan). The film also features Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, and Cheri Oteri.  Timestamps: (0:03:13) Epic Movie (0:28:30) Disaster Movie (0:53:47) Scary Movie (1:33:41) Spoilers (1:46:07) Two Week Break and then: Disclosure Day and The Furious Works Cited: 10,000 BC (Roland Emmerich, 2008) Airplane (Jim Abrahams, David and Jerry Zucker, 1980) Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (Jay Roach, 1997) Beowulf (Robert Zemeckis, 2007) Best Night Ever (Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, 2013) Blazing Saddles (Mel Brooks, 1974) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Tim Burton, 2005) Date Movie (Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, 2006) Disaster Movie (Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, 2008) Disaster Movie Review | Entertainment Weekly  (Owen Gleiberman, 2008) Enchanted (Kevin Lima, 2007) Epic Movie (Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, 2007) Epic Movie (Nathan Rabin, 2007) Funny Like a Guy | The New Yorker (Tad Friend, 2011) Galaxy Quest (Dean Parisot, 1999) Hannah Montana (Michael Poryes, Rich Corell, and Barry O'Brien, 2006-2011) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Mike Newell, 2005) Hot Fuzz (Edgar Wright, 2007) Hot Shots Part Deux (Jim Abrahams, 1993) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (Steven Spielberg, 2008) Juno (Jason Reitman, 2007) Kung Fu Panda (John Stevenson and Mark Osborne, 2008) Meet the Spartans (Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, 2008) Mission: Impossible III (J.
