Enlightening

This podcast has clarified much to me about MBTI with two engaging hosts who consistently provide wisdom as well as examples of how the cognitive functions can manifest in people’s lives. It has also introduced me to other systems, which covered areas that MBTI might not. I can recommend their book, which I found to be both accessible and insightful.

Very good podcasts & interesting points of view. Here's my take on it.

The problem with this categorization process, as sophisticated as it may be, lies in the fact that Analyst (INTJ, INTP, ENTJ, ENTP) and Diplomatic traits (INFJ, INFP, ENFJ, ENFP) are not mutually exclusive and actually fairly complimentary in one's life - for Feeling and Thinking, heart and mind, are not mutually exclusive processes or opposites to one another in any way but actually complimentary and they work together in tandem when an individual is fairly balanced in both thinking AND feeling. All it means is that communication between heart and mind is calibrated, which in consequence synergizes to allow access to both your Introspective traits AND Extroverted traits, both your Intuition AND your Observing capacity in relation to your environment.
Another fallacy of this dogma lies in the assumption that Judgement and Prospection are opposites of the coin, due to the illusion of duality we naturally pocess as humans - we see two sides, yes, but in reality they are one coin and you can flip it and tune into any which direction you want to instead of rattling in a conceptual cage that perpetuates division, categorization and foments victim mentality.
In sum, these are classified as 8 isolated boxes (and yet 8 more within the Sentinels and Explorer types) people are given a match on and fit into, when in reality they are merely a compass your can use to help you guide along the way and when you journey across the map for a while you begin to realize your identity is all-encompassing. Identity is not to be confused with personality however, for personality derives from the latin 'persona', which means 'mask'. If only mainstream, dogmatic psychologists would just realize this and get over the limiting belief that the yin and the yang are trying to chase or fight each other, when in fact a joyful life is the realization that both are ever present, there is nothing you can do to eradicate one side, and you simply integrate into your life the notion that the two forces are indeed dancing together in a dynamic, organic way.
Psychologists therefore need to take off the mask before passing these limiting constructs on as definitive fact, or to quote the Grateful Dead, "steal your face right off your head." They are basically creating genuine fakes.
These tests don't actually define who you are, they merely suggest the direction you may be steering the wheel towards.
