Welcome true believers to X-Men Horoscopes where each week our host Lodro Rinzler is in conversation with a special guest to discuss the X-Men issue that aligns with a significant month and year from their life and what that issue reveals about their future. This week on the show we have Sara Century, host of the Best Issue Ever podcast and co-writer for The Forgotten Five comic (which is truly a lot of fun). We discuss her birth month and year issue - Uncanny X-Men 167 - which is basically mom and dad issues galore, as Professor X is transformed into a Brood Queen and the X-Men have to fight their way through the New Mutants to kill him! What?! Also in this episode: Wolverine is hard to top What Sara would do with a time machine The X-Men meet-fight the New Mutants (it's like a meet-cute only it's not cute like, at all) Kitty Pryde, at the age of 15, is sent to assassinate her teacher with a lava lamp Body horror all over the place Captain Marvel commits genocide for fun The morality of killing the Brood Cyclops probably should’ve f****d off to space   All this plus someday Gandhi will be quoting Sara Century. What does any of it mean for Sara's future? Tune in to find out! Sara Century is a queer creator with a deep love for the weird. She's been making zines for most of her life with no end in sight, starting with fanzines and working up to the longform essays on film and comic book franchises she's putting out today. She is a former co-host of the podcast Bitches On Comics, and current host of Best Issue Ever. She is also the owner of Sympathetic Lightning Productions, a small photo/video production company operating in the Midwest. Jackson Lanzing & Collin Kelly: Anole is the Second Fav Bartender at the Green Lagoon - New X-Men 14

Want to listen to this episode ad-free? Visit our Patreon! Welcome true believers to X-Men Horoscopes where each week our host Lodro Rinzler is in conversation with a special guest to discuss the X-Men issue that aligns with a significant month and year from their life and what that issue reveals about their future. With us this week are Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, the hivemind on a victory lap having just completed writing NYX and GIANT SIZE X-MEN. We dive into their earliest work (with Alyssa Milano) and their new video game before getting into everything NYX as a reframe of Krakoan culture. We then cover a comic that came out at the very beginning of their collaboration 20 years ago - New X-Men 14 - which is NOT the X-Men you think it is. It's the New Mutants (no, not those New Mutants) going toe-to-toe with the Hellions (no, the other Hellions) and by toe-to-toe I mean dripping in angst and teenage drama because in this series THERE IS NO PUNCHING. Also in this episode: Collin and Jackson play the X-Newlywed Game Why not to name your comic after one of Elon Musk's kids The X-Men if they were a high school tv drama Julian of the Hellions is just horrible and keeps calling the Cuckoos by the dead ones' names What got left on the cutting room floor for NYX What does this school dance of an X-Men issue mean for the future of their collaborative partnership? Tune in to find out! Jackson Lanzing & Collin Kelly are a classic rivals-turned-brothers story - and a partnership with work that spans across television, comics, novels, podcasts, and feature films. Raised in hippie enclaves, they met in college and have since built a lifelong creative hivemind, becoming NYT-Bestselling comic book creators with three Eisner nominations along the way. They utilize their deep love of world-building and character-centric story on critically-acclaimed titles such as CAPTAIN AMERICA: SENTINEL OF LIBERTY (Marvel), GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (Marvel), BATMAN BEYOND: NEO-YEAR (DC), ONE BAD DAY: CLAYFACE (DC Comics), STAR TREK (IDW) and of course fans of this show know their work on NYX and Giant Sized X-Men. Dr. Scott DeGeest: Jean is a Giant Birb Who's Really into Poppers - Uncanny X-Men 175

Welcome true believers to X-Men Horoscopes where each week our host Lodro Rinzler is in conversation with a special guest to discuss the X-Men issue that aligns with a significant month and year from their life and what that issue reveals about their future. This week on the show we have dear friend Dr. Scott DeGeest to talk about AI sentinels taking over humanity, Mastermind, and Human Torch Con. We dive into his birth month and year issue (Uncanny X-Men 175) where everyone thinks Cyclops is Dark Phoenix but don't worry...he had ten minutes to plan in response PLUS a belt calculator so he'll be okay. Also in this episode: Lodro has been to Minneapolis once and their gay bar Saloon twice The difference between dumb Sentinels and smart Sentinels We check in with our official Flamecon correspondent about a convention dedicated to the Human Torch I guess? Nightcrawler is bad at shoes Everyone knows that Chicago is famous for their pumpkins Jean has to go run some errands Phoenix ate, no crumbs Why Cyclops’ mom should be a mutant What does any of this mean for Scott's future? Tune in to find out! Dr. Scott DeGeest has been lost in the world of X-Men and comics at large since age eight when he was left unsupervised for too long at the 1992 San Diego Comic Con. Early issues of Excalibur first sparked his love for the franchise. Today, he works as a principal data scientist at a tech company, where he uses his knowledge and curiosity about technology to explore science fiction about artificial intelligence, data science, and robots. In the world of X-Men podcasts, Scott is a regular contributor on Graymalkin Lane. He currently voices Steven Lang on that show's X-Men read-along. A regular guest on podcasts inside and outside of comics, Scott enjoys talking about the gaps between science fiction and science fact, especially related to portrayals of AI in comics. If you ask him, Scott will usually tell you his favorite X-Men character is Cyclops. However, if you press him, he will quickly go into lengthy detail about his interest in Rachel Summers. What’s not to love about a psychic, time-traveling daughter from a dystopian future ruled by genocidal robots?  More of Lodro Rinzler's work can be found here and here and you can follow the podcast on Instagram at xmenpanelsdaily where we post X-Men comic panels...daily.
