Feeling Things with Amy & Kat

Nashville Podcast Network

Feeling Things with Amy & Kat is a podcast for anyone who’s ever had feelings—or wants to. Hosted by Amy Brown and therapist Kat Van Buren, this is a space where nothing is off-limits. From deep reflections on childhood to pop culture obsessions to what’s happening in the world, all feelings deserve a seat at the table—big, small, awkward, joyful, confusing, and everything in between. At its core, it’s real friends having real conversations about real feelings. Some episodes go deep, some stay light, but all are rooted in curiosity, honesty, and connection. In a world that moves fast, sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause... and feel things.

  1. Soul Sessions: Your Warning on Addiction and Delusion (Saturn and Neptune Retrograde in Pisces)

Soul Sessions: Your Warning on Addiction and Delusion (Saturn and Neptune Retrograde in Pisces)

Saturn and Neptune are Retrograde in Pisces, bringing a period of deep introspection—and potential emotional pitfalls. The energy feels foggy, exhaustive, and heavy, putting our defenses to the test. This astrological transit can stir up old fears and delusions, making past, unhealthy coping mechanisms sound like logical solutions. Be aware: the temptation toward escapism will be high, whether through old addictions like drugs, alcohol, and food, or behaviors like doomscrolling, overeating, or toxic relationships. This is a cautionary time. Your nervous system may feel frayed and exhausted, and your internal "check engine light" is on. It's a real danger that you might romanticize destructive behaviors. In this episode, we arm you with spiritual and practical defenses: Double Down on Recovery: It's time to double down on asking for help and proactively activating your support systems. Tap Into Community: We discuss why friendships and community are your most vital resources against the loud, delusional inner voice. The Antidote to Self-Serving: Learn how being of service to others is the antidote to feeling selfish and stuck—a powerful way to get out of your own head. Facing the Mental Health Storm: We address why voices of depression, anxiety, and worthlessness may get louder now and remind you that you are not alone. Spiritual Defenses: Practical ways to talk to your higher self and ask for support from your guides and spiritual troops. Don't let old delusions lead you into a darker place. This transit is an incredible evolutionary journey, but you must be mindful. Listen now to learn how to proactively safeguard your sobriety, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being. 2. Kat’s Creating Joy & Amy’s Revisiting Old Wounds

Kat’s Creating Joy & Amy’s Revisiting Old Wounds

Amy and Kat are both feeling merry this week!! Kat because she just had the staycation of her dreams and she’s already decorated for Christmas (she’s in a season of creating as much joy as possible)! And Amy’s feeling merry because, well, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! However, she had some anxiety pop up around something she thought she’d worked through, so she shares about those feelings as well. Kat reminds her that healing isn’t about being “done” with a feeling…it’s about knowing how to move through it now. When familiar feelings show up again, it doesn’t mean you’re back at the beginning. It’s just a new moment to practice showing up differently…with more awareness, more tools, and more kindness for yourself. Also in this episode: a cozy stovetop simmer recipe (see below!), the move to make out of a second story should there be a fire (random, but helpful), and a thoughtful email from new listener Dave, who shares how burnout shifted his relationship with work and a reminder to actually communicate needs in a relationship…men aren’t mind readers. Smells Like Christmas: A Cozy Simmer Pot Recipe 1 large orange, sliced 3–4 cinnamon sticks 1 cup fresh cranberries 1 tablespoon whole cloves 2–3 sprigs of fresh rosemary (or a handful of pine needles if you’re feeling extra festive) Water to fill the pot   How To: Combine everything in a medium pot. Fill with water until ingredients are just covered (leave about an inch from the top). Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Reduce to low and let it quietly bubble away (uncovered) as long as you’d like. Keep an eye on it and add more water as needed so it doesn’t dry out. Pro tip…you can reuse the same pot a few times! Just pop it in the fridge overnight and add fresh water before reheating.   This little ritual makes your whole house smell like orange, cinnamon, and nostalgia. It’s one of those small, sensory things that makes the holidays feel like the holidays. Get some Feeling Things merch by clicking HERE! 3. What's God Got To Do With It?: "Why Do I Keep Repeating the Same Mistakes, Even When I Pray for Change?"

What's God Got To Do With It?: "Why Do I Keep Repeating the Same Mistakes, Even When I Pray for Change?"

You pray for change, you genuinely want to do better, and yet… you find yourself stuck in the same old habits. Sound familiar? In today’s episode, we answer a listener’s question about why breaking free from repetitive struggles feels so hard—even when we’re actively seeking God’s help. Whether it’s self-sabotage, toxic relationships, negative self-talk, or cycles of fear and doubt, we’ll unpack the three key reasons why we keep repeating patterns: how our brains crave familiarity, how subconscious beliefs shape our actions, and how spiritual battles keep us stuck. But here’s the truth: You are not broken. You are not beyond hope. And this cycle doesn’t have to define you. We’ll dive into how Romans 12:2 shows us that real transformation happens through the renewing of our minds, how neuroscience confirms that change is possible, and how the Holy Spirit empowers us beyond sheer willpower. If you’re tired of feeling stuck and want real, lasting change, this episode will give you the tools—and the encouragement—to step into true freedom. 7 NOV · BONUS

Soul Sessions: Mercury Retrograde Road Map: Your Psychic Upgrade & Mental Detox

Rather than bracing for Mercury Retrograde, we invite you to embrace this period (November 9th-29th) as a spiritual refinement process—a chance to clear static from your frequency and let old, outdated narratives dissolve. With three water signs in retrograde (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces), the universe is gifting us a profound psycho-spiritual cleanse. Here’s what we cover: The Upgrade Invitation: Why you must engage with the Mercury Retrograde for a deep mental and cognitive rewire, rather than recycling confusion. Sagittarius Detox: From Nov 9th, Mercury in Sag demands a mental expansion and belief detox. What limiting stories have been running the show unconsciously? (Be mindful of spiritual bypassing or excessive optimism!) Scorpio Confrontation: When Mercury slides back into Scorpio on Nov 18th, the game changes. We move from philosophical to embodiment. This is where the rubber meets the road—truth will come to light, and you can't avoid the red flags. Psychic Purge: All three water signs are in retrograde, purifying and detoxing our psyche. We are being cleansed of pain and confrontation that doesn't need to quantum leap with us into 2026. Deep Truth Telling: Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio penetrates the underworld of your psyche, exposing what has been hidden. This is the time to integrate your shadows and excavate old junk that has been buried. Power Dates: A roadmap of crucial days for action, clarity, and receiving luck: Nov 12th (watch your mouth), Nov 17th (lucky day), Nov 20th (psychic day), Nov 22nd (Master Number day), and celebration on Nov 30th. This November is a pressure cooker—focus internally, clear the static, and trust that your soul is catching up to the mental and psychic upgrade you are receiving.   Additional Resources:  November Astrology (Part 1): Full Moon inTaurus, Emotional Riptides, & Karmic Truth November Astrology (Part 2): Venus in Scorpio, Uranus Retrograde, & Jupiter in Cancer  How to Metabolize Your Energy for Strong Energetic Boundaries   Host: Amanda Rieger Green YouTube: @soul_pathology⁩   Instagram: @soulpathology  Website: SoulPathology.com  Email: Podcast@soulsessions.me See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
