Ologies with Alie Ward
Volcanoes. Trees. Drunk butterflies. Mars missions. Slug sex. Death. Beauty standards. Anxiety busters. Beer science. Bee drama. Take away a pocket full of science knowledge and charming, bizarre stories about what fuels these professional -ologists' obsessions. I’ve been listening to Ologies in the car with my son for several years now and I always just assumed it was basically background noise for him. Cut to this week listening to the Chiropterology encore on our after-school run and he announced, “that lady sounds like she wears glasses” — which I am guessing is child-speak for “sounds intelligent”. WHICH SHE IS. And funny. And charming. And excellent company on long drives. Side note: does four years of listening to Alie passionately interview passionate experts mean you will quit your high-paid career to spend your savings for a house on a science degree (roughly equivalent expenditure) so you can get into a field you love before it’s too late? MAYBE. Keep it up, Dad Ward! <3
