Bad Elizabeth - Elisabeth Finch with Michael Musto

Elisabeth Finch was an ambitious writer and producer of the hit ABC series Grey’s Anatomy. As talented as Finch was at crafting episodes of the beloved hospital drama, she was even more talented at lying her ass off about her own life. Finch got ahead in Hollywood by making up a sob story about having and inoperable spinal cancer. She shaved her head, and pretended to throw up in the restroom at work, pulling the heartstrings of her colleagues, family, and lovers. Her charade was so convincing that her "struggle" even became a Grey's Anatomy plot line. And that was just the beginning of the bullshit she spewed. Gideon and Kathy reluctantly marvel at the exploits of this “Zelig of Misfortune,” and her commitment to the reality she created. Later in the episode Gideon sits down with legendary journalist Michael Musto in his native New York City, to discuss Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor. The glamorous star of films like Giant, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? was also known for tempestuous relationships with her many husband, like Richard Burton, and disastrous Hollywood flops like Cleopatra. On Episode 3 of Jett Road Studios Presents, hosts Will & Amber Becton introduce a pilot for the podcast Pilot Lounge, hosted by Daily Show co-creator and original showrunner Madeleine Smithberg. In this podcast Madeleine reunites with past collaborators to revisit failed pilots they made together, in a fun and cathartic way. In the first episode Madeleine talks to Marc Evan Jackson (The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Lauren Weedman (Hacks, Abbott Elementary), to talk about pilots they made for None Of Your Business, Little America, and The 5th Hour. Madeleine Smithberg has produced countless pilots. After creating The Daily Show with Lizz Winstead (and hiring people like Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, and Ed Helms), Madeleine spent years of her life creating and selling TV shows -- for example, a topical comedy show based on the internet for Al Gore's CURRENT TV, and a late night series for BET called DON'T SLEEP! -- but oftentimes her projects were never seen by the general public. These pilots would be watched by a few development executives, and then die a slow death as networks changed hands, or other circumstances beyond Madeleine's control conspired to keep these comedic gems hidden from the world. In Pilot Lounge, Madeleine seeks to reclaim the original comedic joy of making these shows with people she loves and admires. Many people know Bobby Moynihan from his nine seasons on Saturday Night Live, but his formative years as a comedian were improvising at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York, where he was a member of house teams Police Chief Rumble and The Stepfathers. Will talked to Bobby about the old UCB days, as well as his time on Saturday Night Live, Human Giant, and Derrick Comedy. Bobby also discusses his love for animation and the making of Loafy, his cartoon about a weed-dealing Manatee. Madeleine Smithberg is best know as co-creator and executive producer of The Daily Show, which she ran for seven years, spanning the Craig Kilborn and Jon Stewart eras. The list of people Madeleine hired during her tenure includes Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, and Ed Helms. She spent six years as a talent coordinator and producer on Late Night with David Letterman, after beginning her career as a field producer for RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana (Italian national television). Colton Dunn on discovering UCB, performing at Boom Chicago, and writing on Key & Peele

Colton Dunn has been a stalwart of the improv and sketch comedy scene since the late 90s. Will first met Colton when they were in the same Level 1 class at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in its early days in New York. Since then Colton has performed at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam, been a writer on madTV and Key & Peele, and played the much-loved character Garrett on Superstore (NBC). Colton currently plays a principal role on the Netflix series The Recruit. Colton and Will also talk about performing improv comedy, and how that has affected the way they think, as well as their interactions with others.
