This Is Normal(ish) is a candid, funny, and unfiltered look at modern parenting from your hosts, Katiah and Timitri—a neurodivergent couple raising four kids, two of whom are neurodivergent, and navigating life as full-time caregivers to their oldest daughter with complex disabilities. Each episode pulls back the curtain on the beautiful chaos of family life: the real moments, the hard days, the hilarious ones, and the “is this normal…ish?” questions every parent asks but rarely says out loud. We share our journey with honesty, humor, and heart—because parenting is messy, society is confusing, and sometimes the only thing you can do is laugh and keep going.     We Need to Talk

    In episode 6 we share the deep, dark truth -- we are struggling. Burnout in the home, marital tensions, financial strain, and the ever-present reality of postpartum side-effects still being at play is making for a challenging season in life. We are here to put ourselves out there for everyone. Join us as we discuss ways we are currently attempting to navigate these struggles, the importance of repair, and choices we want to make in the future.     Intro to Scripture Part 2: The Birds and the Bees

    You asked how we got here--so here it is. In Part 2 of our religion + parenting conversation, we open up about religious roots, the beliefs and values that stuck, and the experiences that reshaped everything. We talk faith, fear, healing, and what it looks like to parent with all of that in the rearview mirror. We also share a little clarification on some things we talked about in Part 1 that may have struck a cord in each other or simply came out wrong. We wanted to be authentic and genuine -- even when it gets a little messy and unhinged. Content Warning: discussion of adult themes with brief mention of physical abuse and SA.

    Intro to Scripture Part 1: Good without God

    Episode four is here! In this episode we recap the week after spending a quiet Christmas holiday at home and navigating some interesting side quests with our 5 year old. This episode covers conversations around Religion/God and how these topics can intersect with parenting, homeschooling, and teaching kindness. Especially with neurodivergence, past childhood trauma, indoctrination, and curiosity at play. Join us as we navigate challenging discussions with each other while unpacking some major baggage around "God-talk" and how we plan to move forward from here. Things get a little heated, but we always find our way back to understanding...eventually. Side note: Because we feel so passionately about respectful/gentle parenting and the choices we make as parents, we plan to continue this conversation in a later episode as well. Stay tuned for that!     A Plant, a Community, and a Lifeline

    n this episode, Katiah and Timitri open up about their journey using medical cannabis as a holistic tool to help control their daughter’s seizures—and how it’s helped shape and ultimately save her life. The pair talk candidly about using cannabis as a rescue option when Mila's seizures escalate, the trust they've built with this medicine, and the stigma that still surrounds it. Timitri and Katiah also reflect on the incredible cannabis community they were part of in Washington state and their future goals for creating and shaping that same type of support network in Colorado. Join us as we talk about what it was like to watch everything unfold and the echoes from those early days that still shape us as parents and remind us how far she's come.
