Dr. Downs took his first drink at the age of 10 and began smoking at 14. He talks about abusing prescription drugs as well as having a habit of drinking and smoking before and after school as a teen. As an adult he had a few stints with the law and even became clean for two years. Unfortunately he lost his grandfather his mom got sick and he relapsed. During this relapse Dr. Downs was sentenced to 10 years in prison and it changed his life.
