School Choice Series: Private to Public School with Misty Persefield:: [Ep 560]

In part two of my School Choice Series, I sit down with Misty Persefield, a mom of three, to talk candidly about navigating school choice from the early years through high school. Misty shares her family’s journey through private and public schools, the fears she faced, and the peace that came from trusting God rather than comparing herself to others. This conversation offers reassurance for moms carrying the weight of making the “right” educational choices and highlights the importance of keeping fear out of the decision-making process. My hope with this series is to share a variety of school choice stories so you can hear different experiences and perspectives. As you listen, I encourage you to pray and seek God’s guidance, asking Him to bring to mind exactly what you need to know for your family’s journey. Trust Him to walk hand in hand with you, year by year, as you make decisions and navigate each step of your children’s education. Here is some of what we cover:  Challenges of private school, including finances and high expectations The importance of knowing yourself, your child, and your family culture Pivoting from private to public school for high school Starting kids early vs. late, especially for boys based on birthdays Preparing kids for college by “taking off the bubble wrap” while they’re still at home Connect with Misty Persefield:  Instagram: Misty Persefield (@mistypersefield) Website: Marketing Agency | Misty Persefield Marketing and Media Related Episodes: Shame, Perfectionism and Smiling Depression :: Misty Persefield and Stephanie Coker [Ep 154] School Choice Series: Homeschool to Private School with Kris Habashy :: [Ep 559] Confidence in Parenting Decisions :: Laura Wifler [Ep 497] Featured Sponsors:  Cove: Make protecting your home a top priority. • Week 24: Celebrate others: Mary and Elizabeth

    16 FÉVR.

    5

Week 24: Celebrate others: Mary and Elizabeth

And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” (Luke 1:41–45 ESV) There’s a beautiful scene between two relatives in Luke 1, as we read about the coming of Jesus. Elizabeth was pregnant with John the Baptist, and her cousin Mary had just been told by an angel that she would give birth to a son and he would be named Jesus, the Son of the Most High. Imagine having this kind of news and needing to process this with a friend. And it’s especially tricky when you are a virgin and learn you are expecting a child. In Luke 1, Mary visited her relative Elizabeth to tell her the unexpected and life-changing news. At the moment she entered, the baby leaped in Elizabeth’s womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. The interesting part about this moment is Elizabeth’s joy in her response to Mary’s news. She could’ve been a little confused that her cousin had just “one-upped” her by sharing that she was pregnant with the Savior of the world. Instead, she recognized that the Lord was fulfilling his promises through Mary. It was a moment of pure support, praise, and celebration. She immediately proclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb” (Luke 1:42 KJV). Throughout the Bible, and even in today’s culture, we see moments of jealousy and comparison. Even in Christian communities, we see jealousy and discontentment when God is blessing others. Let’s pray that our children respond to their friends just like Elizabeth did to Mary. Let’s pray that they trust the Lord with their paths and step in as the first one to celebrate with joy for their friends and family. Jesus, when __________ has a friend or a family member who has great news, let them be the first to celebrate. Let them cast aside the feelings of jealousy and stand firmly in their own journey with God. Let them be known as friends who praise what God is doing in the lives around them. 8. 45% of Women Will Be Single by 2030 | How to Know If You’re Actually Ready for Marriage and Motherhood

A lot of people treat marriage and motherhood like deadlines you’re supposed to hit. In this episode, I break down how I think about readiness, not as a timeline, but as an intentional choice that should add to your life, not shrink it. I share what actually mattered to me before getting married, from choosing an exceptional partner to knowing who I was outside of a relationship and being able to financially support myself. Then we get into what real readiness for kids looks like: the costs people don’t talk about, the emotional work that shows up in postpartum and parenting triggers, and the reality that choosing to have children is a lifelong commitment. If you’re going to choose marriage or motherhood, this episode is about choosing it on purpose… not out of pressure, fear, or expectation. Resources mentioned: Rise of the SHEconomy - Morgan Stanley ResearchHealth fertility and age-related pregnancy data - UCSF Facility Research Questions to Ask Yourself Before Marriage or Motherhood: If your partner never changes, same job, same mindset, same habits, would you still want to be with them? Can you financially support yourself without relying on a partner?Do you know who you are outside of a relationship or motherhood?Have you lived independently enough to know what you actually want (living alone, traveling alone, dating different people)? What would you realistically have to sacrifice or give up if you had children?Have you addressed your own childhood trauma and personal triggers? Are you choosing marriage or kids because you truly want them? Or because of fear or societal pressure?Hosted by Chancé Hindir-Lane, Selfish Parenting is the honest, empowering podcast that challenges the myth of self-sacrifice in motherhood. #137 In this episode, Lisa discusses the topic of kids screaming. She covers different types of screaming from kids, why she believes kids scream, how she approaches screaming from kids, her thoughts on parents yelling, and the idea that parents want to ensure their kids don’t feel alone in their feelings.  Lastly, Lisa addresses five listener questions centered on loud vocal outbursts and physical resistance, specifically discussing a 34-month-old screaming at the top of her lungs, a 4-year-old kicking and screaming at home since starting school, managing a toddler who screams during baths, a 26-month-old running through the house screaming, and how to handle a 4-year-old having loud tantrums multiple times per week. What 3 years of interviews have taught me about parenting with faith

Hi friends, This week’s episode is a little different and really special. It's just me, Steph, reflecting on the past three years of hosting the Christian Parenting Podcast. As I look back on the many conversations I’ve had with incredible guests, a few themes have come up over and over again. And I wanted to take a moment to name them, reflect on them, and remind you (and myself!) that faithful parenting is not about doing everything perfectly, it's about showing up with humility, love, and trust in God. In this solo episode, I share some of the truths that have encouraged me the most over the years: Relationship comes before instruction. Our kids don’t need a lecture, they need connection.Consistency matters more than intensity. One big moment doesn’t outweigh everyday faithfulness.Modeling an authentic faith makes a lasting impact. Your honesty and humility preach louder than perfection. You’re not responsible for the outcome. You’re invited to be faithful, present, and full of grace, and let God do the rest. These reminders have shaped how I approach my own parenting and I hope they encourage you as you walk alongside your kids in faith, love, and truth.
