Sweden Captures Gold & Metro Mid-Season Grades

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton! Today’s show is all about the Metro Division as we hand out mid-season report cards. Is any team close to contending with the Hurricanes at the top? New Jersey was up there until the Hughes injury but now they’ve fallen down the standings. Washington was on top in the East last year, but has the magic ran out? Next, we look at the teams who have been surprises in the Metro. The Isles have a solid mix of young talent and veteran experience with Ilya Sorokin and David Rittich manning the crease. Philly just extended Christian Dvorak, but can they continue their hot start? The Penguins are on a five-game heater, but are they the most questionable of the mushy middle in the Metro? The back of the class has the New York Rangers and Columbus Blue Jackets looking for answers. The Rangers lost Igor Shesterkin last night, can they overcome an injury to their starter and make a second-half push? The Blue Jackets have a .524 point percentage and sit dead last in the Eastern Conference. Can the Blue Jackets take advantage of a smaller seller’s market and grab some pieces for the future? Jeff Marek from The Sheet joins the show to talk all things World Juniors and give his opinion on the guy's Metro report cards. SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!! 👍🏼Powered by @bet365. Czechia Upsets Canada & Life Without Tanev for the Leafs

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk, David Pagnotta and Steven Ellis! We start the show with an injury update in Toronto. Defensive stalwart Chris Tanev will likely miss the remainder of the regular season after considering surgery for a groin injury. How can the Leafs replace the veteran shutdown defender? The San Jose Sharks have signed center Alex Wennberg to a three-year contract extension with a $6 million AAV. The Sharks still have eight pending UFAs on their roster and are projected to have just under $50 million in cap space for next season. Will San Jose make any big splashes at the trade deadline or over the summer to bolster their young, talented core? The Vancouver Canucks continue to sit at the bottom of the Pacific Division, and trade talk is heating up around power forward Kiefer Sherwood. Meanwhile, the Nashville Predators are climbing the standings, but could veteran forward Steven Stamkos still be on the move as contending teams look to add a proven winner ahead of a potential Stanley Cup run? Steven Ellis joins the show for a World Juniors Gold Medal Preview. We’ll talk about Canada’s loss to Czechia, how this year compares to recent tournaments, the Czechia–Sweden matchup, how top draft-eligible players have performed, and his medal predictions for tonight. Grounded Jets: Slump or Serious Problem in Winnipeg?

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton! We start the show in Winnipeg as the Jets drop their sixth straight and sit seventh in the Central Division. They were 3-8-1 without Connor Hellebuyck and despite his return steadying the goals against they are still just 1-3-3 since he’s been back. Last season at this point the Jets had 53 points, have they run out of fuel in Winnipeg? The Carolina Hurricanes are down to two goalies as Pyotr Kochetkov is done for the season with a knee injury, is this a big deal or no deal for the Canes Cup chances? Andrew Mangiapane, Sean Monahan, and Jake Debrusk headline some expensive healthy scratches. Are there serious concerns with any of these players and could we see some on the move? There are lots of questions surrounding the Canadian Olympic team, the guys each breakdown 3 big things to watch with the upcoming roster announcement tomorrow. Steven Ellis from Daily Faceoff joins the show for the Next Wave on the ground in Minnesota. We’ll talk all things World Juniors from current breakout stars, Team Canada’s undefeated start, who’s looking like the top dog, and a sweet overtime goal. The Smokin’ Hot Sabres Win Again!

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton! We start the show with a holiday edition of Man of the Weekend, as the guys give their picks for Man of the Holidays. Tyler chose the overtime hero for the Minnesota Wild, while Carter went with the player who scored his first career hat trick in Pittsburgh. The Buffalo Sabres can’t stop winning! Over the holidays, the Sabres picked up two more victories to extend their winning streak to eight games. They now sit fifth in the Atlantic Division and just miss out on the second wildcard spot due to the tiebreaker being owned by Florida. Can the Sabres finally break their playoff drought? The World Juniors dropped the puck on their 50th edition on Friday. There have already been some exciting games, including a few scares for perennial powerhouses. Latvia once again proved to be a thorn in Canada’s side, taking them to overtime before falling 2–1 on a Michael Hage winner. Germany and Switzerland both stuck around against the host Americans, who could be without defender Cole Hutson after he took a puck to the head in their 2–1 victory over Switzerland on Saturday. Sweden remains undefeated after surviving a tight opening-game test from Slovakia. Finland looks like the top dog so far after dominant wins over Denmark and Latvia, but can the Finns keep the scoring going against the likes of Czechia and Canada? David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period joins the show for The Insider Notebook. We’ll discuss which team has boosted its stock the most in 2025, which GM we should be watching to make moves in 2026, and get an update on contract talks between the Philadelphia Flyers and Christian Dvorak.
