    “How do we find and hang on to our own humanity in this inhumane capitalist system?” After completing her PhD in Linguistics in 2008, Anna Marie Trester worked in academic administration at Georgetown University and then later at the FrameWorks Institute (a social change communications think tank), all the while founding and growing Career Linguist (CL) as a “side hustle.” In December 2018, she took the plunge to focus on CL full-time, working as a story practitioner, researcher, consultant, and trainer. Anna Marie is the author of Employing Linguistics: Thinking and Talking About Careers for Linguists and Bringing Linguistics to Work: A Story Listening, Story Finding, and Story Telling approach to Your Career. She also serves as the Career Readiness Coordinator for the Department of Linguistics at Boise State University. He is the author of Language and Mediated Masculinities (Oxford University Press, 2023), co-editor of Sociolinguistic Research: Application and Impact (Routledge, 2016), and editor of Sociolinguistics in Scotland (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014). He has also worked with police agencies in England to develop and deliver training on manosphere language and male supremacism and is a regular expert media commentator on men and masculinities.
