    A Scandalous Fairytale: The Swineherd

Too stressed to sleep? Perhaps a weird scandalous fairytale, some calm narration, and 96 forbidden kisses will help? This is a soft-spoken narration of Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale "The Swineherd." This calm sleep story is is read in a soft voice and set to some light and soft background music. I do hope you enjoy the this evening's fairytale bedtime story! How many kisses is too many? 96? The Scandal! Join me as I softly read this classic Hans Christian Andersen fairytale "The Swineherd." Look. It's weird. Of course. “He will have a hundred kisses from the Princess!” said the lady who had been to ask. “I think he is not in his right senses!” said the Princess, and walked on, but when she had gone a little way, she stopped again. “One must encourage art,” said she, “I am the Emperor's daughter. Tell him he shall, as on yesterday, have ten kisses from me, and may take the rest from the ladies of the court.” “Oh—but we should not like that at all!” said they. “What are you muttering?” asked the Princess. “If I can kiss him, surely you can. Remember that you owe everything to me.” So the ladies were obliged to go to him again. “A hundred kisses from the Princess,” said he, “or else let everyone keep his own!” “Stand round!” said she; and all the ladies stood round her whilst the kissing was going on. “What can be the reason for such a crowd close by the pigsty?” said the Emperor, who happened just then to step out on the balcony; he rubbed his eyes, and put on his spectacles. “They are the ladies of the court; I must go down and see what they are about!” So he pulled up his slippers at the heel, for he had trodden them down. As soon as he had got into the court-yard, he moved very softly, and the ladies were so much engrossed with counting the kisses, that all might go on fairly, that they did not perceive the Emperor. He rose on his tiptoes... An Old Fairytale of Trickery, Trolls, and Twists: The Witch in the Stone Boat

Once upon a time there was a Prince who needed to find a Princess to wed. Yes, we know this tale! BUT there is a twist! He does NOT have to rescue her from a curse or a dragon, or any such thing... it's much, much worse! In tonight's fairytale reading, we follow Prince Sigurd on his little mission to find a beautiful bride, watch as they make a little family, and then, in anguish, bemoan his untimely slumber as she is snatched up by a witch in a stone boat, who tricks the poor now-king into believing she is her! Right! Not confusing. Also, the witch sends the poor queen off to marry the witch's brother, a troll? Instead of accept this fate, the tricky queen has a plan to not only see her son again, but maybe get rescued, too! It's not the best plan and it leaves a lot to chance, but what are you going to do? If ONLY those nerdy chess players would have reported their findings to the king sooner. Alas! Join me for tonight's fairy tale, "The Witch in the Stone Boat," which is read in a soft voice and set to some light and soft background music. I do hope you enjoy the this evening's Icelandic fairytale story! A Very Weird Fairytale: Prince Lindworm

Rose petals, "good" witches, queens, princes, serpents, serpent princes, all this and SO MUCH MORE await us in tonight's Scandinavian fairytale "Prince Lindworm!" We follow one queen, desperate for a child, as she gets help from a cool witchy woman, and then DOES THE OPPOSITE OF THE WOMAN'S SUGGESTION. She is then, of course, left to suffer the consequences of a healthy baby... and a serpent? This serpent goes un-addressed until the prince wants to find a bride. The Lindworm blocks EVERY road out of town, saying "He gets to find a bride first!" Like, three times? That's not fair! Anyway, fairytales. Finally, he is married to a woman who cares more for her own skin that his, and wow is that a good thing! Witchy woman is back with more advice for this lady, who actually follows it (ummm weird as it is? Whips? Hey now!) and saves her life... and the Prince Snake! This tale, "Prince Lindworm," is read in a soft voice with light chatter, and set to some light and soft background music. I do hope you enjoy the this evening's short story.
