Braden had a completely different relationship with money. He grew up in a well-off family, so he never had to worry about money. He did get a job at 16 because his parents wanted him to learn the value of hard work.

    • Landing over $100k in scholarships
    • World Travels

FIRE starter Sweden

I found ChooseFI about seven months ago and have listened to almost all episodes. Some of them are not applicable for a Swedish audience (e g 401k - I am probably one of the biggest 401k/Roth IRA experts in our country given all the FI literature/blog/podcasts I've been consuming after my initial discovery of MMM in 2013 - an inefficient use of brain space). I regularly use inspiration from Brad & Jonathan in my blog (FruEfficientBadass - a blog about FIRE and personal finances) and several readers have written to me thanking me for introducing this pod to them. Previously, I used to send FIRE neewbies to "The shockingly simple math" MMM blogpost. Today, it's "The Why of The FI". I think one of the major factors behind the success of this podcast is the fact that the hosts seem so normal and nice. They are neither "make your own toilet paper guys" from reality show TV, nor stiff "finance guys" from financial media. These are middle class academic degree family guys (with an above medium capability of expression and packaging of info). Me, and other swedish FIRE bloggers, are struggeling to get the FIRE going in our country and I beleive this is the tool that will break it for us. For instance, I linked to the first Collins episode in my "Investment School For Retards" and got a number of emails afterwards thanking for me introducing them to you. Many thanks for hours, hours and hours of qualitative listening.
