Adam and Josh were great company when I found my way back to watching movies more seriously about five years ago, after a ten year sports-focused hiatus. Especially their top 5-lists have opened my eyes to many films.
However, last year I found myself, more often than not, skipping episodes as I started to be more and more hesitant towards their approach to movie watching. For instance, they sometimes have a real high-brow attitude towards certain actors or genres. Instead of just letting other people like films or actors, e.g. Adam Sandler, they make fun of the fact that they think it is so bad. I used to be the same way, so I recognize the behavior. Lately, I have been gravitating towards a more inclusive and fun-based experience and it has been much more rewarding. If you like film, I recommend adding The Big Picture and The Rewatchables to your podcast rotation.
As a former student of film science, I understand that there is more to a film than what immediately meets the eye. However, that eye is always in the beholder and Adam and Josh are at their best when they are cognizant of that.
