These later reminiscences begin with the case of Wisteria Lodge, which comes to Holmes and Watson's attention with the arrival of a telegram from one Mr. John Scott Eccles, which is soon followed by the arrival of the man himself. Eccles recounts his bizarre interactions with a man named Aloysius Garcia at Wisteria Lodge. When Inspector Gregson of Scotland Yard turns up with news of Garcia's murder, it becomes clear that Eccles is the prime suspect. Holmes is intrigued by the peculiar case and begins his investigation.
