The show that is creating challenges for distributors locally TotalCultZone presents....Another movie review podcast? Yeah, I guess so. I do mix it up a bit however by covering new, old, cult, forgotten, unknown, good, bad and ugly movies... Usually all in the same episode. While I will touch upon the popular films of the day, I'll also try my hardest to introduce you to something you didn't know about. It might be a good thing you didn't know about it, but that's a different story entirely. Lesbian Space Princess

Lesbian Space Princess ... nuff said? maybe not, it's a title that popped into my inbox and I thought it was a totally unnecessary 4k remastering by Vinegar syndrome of a 70s softcore romp release, but it's a actually a brand new indie animated feature that is by the directors description "fresh, female driven and gay AF". I figured as I'm non of those things, I may need a little help. So Nona is with me and we're joined by Circus strong Kora Moon, who although we never actually mention it, is a young aspiring pro wrestler. LINK! Lesbian Space Princess celebrated its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Teddy Award, before going on to win the Audience Award for "Best Australian Feature" at the Sydney Film Festival. A laugh-out-loud adventure through the far reaches of queer outer space, Lesbian Space Princess showcases the incredible talents of South Australian writers/ directors, Leela Varghese and Emma Hough Hobbs. Daughter to the flamboyant lesbian Queens of Planet Clitopolis, introverted Princess Saira is devastated when her bounty-hunter girlfriend, Kiki, suddenly breaks up with her for being too needy. After Kiki is kidnapped by forgotten incels of the future, the Straight White Maliens, Saira must leave the comforts of gay space to deliver their ransom: her royal labrys (the most powerful weapon known to lesbian kind). Only problem is… she doesn’t have it! With just a 24-hour window to get her labrys and save Kiki, Princess Saira finds herself on an inter-gay-lactic journey of self-discovery that includes encounters with a problematic spaceship and a new-found friendship with gay-pop runaway Willow. An animated comedy like no other, Lesbian Space Princess is a riotous, candy-coloured joy from start to finish: an animation by emerging creatives that embraces LGBTQIA+ and culturally diverse voices, on and off-screen. Lesbian Space Princess is voiced by Shabana Azeez (Birdeater, The Pitt), Bernie Van Tiel (Class of 07, Swift Street), Gemma Chua Tran (Heartbreak High, Ladies in Black), Aunty Donna (Aunty Donna’s Big Ol House of Fun, Aunty Donna’s Coffee Cafe), Richard Roxburgh (Rake, Elvis, Van Helsing), Jordan Raskopolous (The Strange Chores, I Am Woman), Madeleine Sami (Deadloch, The Breaker Upperers) and Kween Kong (RuPaul’s Drag Race). No Place For Football

TotalCultDocFest continues as me and Mark Plant from 100 things we learned form film talk about Football in Greenland. It's a funny old game! No Place for Football is a feature documentary that explores perseverance, identity, and the unifying power of sport in one of the most remote regions on Earth. Set along the Arctic Circle, the film follows Nuuk-based football club, B67, as they navigate a series of obstacles as they travel north to compete in Greenland’s uniquely brief football season.  With unprecedented access, the film captures the team’s journey to Ilulissat, as they pursue the title of national champions, while contending with fierce rivals, overcoming physical hardship, and the weight of representing their community. Through intimate storytelling and Greenland’s backdrop of striking visuals, No Place for Football offers a rare glimpse into life in Greenland, where the world’s most popular sport isn’t just a game, it’s the cultural heartbeat of the world’s largest island. Crossing above the Arctic Circle, the people of Greenland live a life unfamiliar to the rest of the world. It’s a place where the grass of a football pitch finds the temperatures too cold to grow, roads aren’t a means of transportation from one town to the next, and looming icebergs offer a subtle reminder that winter isn’t just around the corner; it never left. No Place for Football is an intimate look at one team’s experience during the world’s shortest season (one week) as they battle the elements en route to the host city, the struggle to maintain healthy players in harsh environments and the pressures of returning home victorious. Led by captain Patrick Frederiksen and head coach Nicolai Nielsen, club B67 from Nuuk travels north to the host town of Ilulissat, with the dream of becoming National Champions. But if the boys from Nuuk are to be successful, they’ll have to overcome a series of obstacles along the way, including a showdown with their bitter rival and hometown club, N48. Joint Statement from the Directors, Brandon Scott Smith and Derek Sullivan Smith; "With all eyes on the upcoming FIFA World Cup, we’re excited to share the story of one country still waiting to get in. Football in Greenland shows that in some places, it’s still all about playing for the love of the game, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience the story of their season in one of the most remote places on earth." Russell Crowe is a BEAST

This week I'm joined by Philip Bedwell (he's never been in neighbours or Home and away) to talk about a few things, First his new role in BFI short Choke hold, then about fun fake fighting in films, Depressing realities of the real life fight world and eventually we stumble into Russell Crowe's new MMA movie Beast. It gets real spoilery real fast, so turn off when the trailer kicks in if you really don't want to know what happens... although to be honest, the trailer shows you most of what happens. Directed by Tyler Atkins (Bosch, Rockit), Beast stars Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe (Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind), Daniel MacPherson (Foundation, Land of Bad) & Luke Hemsworth (The Witcher, WestWorld). Other stars of the film include Bren Foster, George Burgess, Mojean Aria, Kelly Gale, Amy Shark and Saphira Moran. The film was co-written by David Frigerio (Land of Bad) & Russell Crowe, marking Crowe's second writing credit, following Poker Face in 2022. Beast follows ex-con Patton James (Daniel MacPherson), who abandoned his mixed martial arts dream to support his wife, Luciana (Kelly Gale), and daughter. When Patton’s brother Malon suffers a serious injury in a fi ght to make good on his debts, Patton has to risk everything to get back in the ring to avenge him. But to reclaim his old glory and succeed in the ONE Championship, Patton must regain the trust of his ace trainer (Russell Crowe) and keep his own family together. LINKS! Touch Me

Nona is made speechless for the first time, but is it due to the film or just the Werewolf dildo monster tickling a pickle? either way, this is an odd film that neither of us were expecting to have this reaction to. Touch Me is psychosexual horror-comedy written and directed by Addison Heimann. Two best friends become addicted to the heroin-like touch of an alien narcissist who is trying to take over the world. The film stars Olivia Taylor Dudley (She Dies Tomorrow, The Magicians), Lou Taylor Pucci (Daredevil: Born Again, American Horror Story) and Jordan Gavaris (Wish You Were Here, Hacks). Touch Me was produced by John Humber (Hypochondriac, Moon Manor) and David Lawson Jr. (Something In The Dirt, Things Will Be Different). The world premiere took place at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and Abertoir Horror Festival hosted the UK premiere in November. It has also played at numerous genre festivals around the world – including SXSW, Night Visions, Fantasia, Sitges, Melbourne and Soho Horror Festival. Touch Me will be available on Digital and Blu-ray from Monday May 4 NonaGoff for Nona stuff TotalCultZone.com for the Total Cult Zine FKinghello@Gmail.com - To Direct message without that social media guff Patty Ron Buy me a coffee get access to the super secret Total Cult Club, includes uncut episodes and occasional bonus pods with cats Music; Tatami: Midnight Drive Music from #Uppbeat https://uppbeat.io/t/tatami/midnight-drive License code: I27A9WQID9MEZUKO Hosted on Acast.
