Quarter Notes 21: Danny Thompson (Face to Face + The Music Factory)

#QuarterNotes #DannyThompson #facetoface #TheMusicFactory Here we go with another BIG episode!! This week I got to sit down with Danny Thompson - the drummer from Face to Face, one of my favourite punk rock bands of all time! Danny is not just your typical drummer, he is also a savvy businessman and the owner/co-founder of The Music Factory School of Music in Costa Mesa CA. He has held the drum throne for Face to Face since 2008 and has been a rock solid foundation for the band ever since day one.  Danny shares how his love of Elvis made him want to play music, his experiences recording drums and working with legendary drummer/producer Bill Stevenson at The Blasting Room, his own show called the “Highway 62 Podcast”, and a whole lot more. “Hold Fast” and take a trip to 29 Palms and enjoy my conversation with Danny Thompson. 00:00:00 - Intro  00:01:14 - Conversation with Danny 00:48:34 - CRASH Questions 01:27:16 - Outro Danny Thompson: https://www.instagram.com/dannythompson691967/ https://www.instagram.com/highway62podcast/ face to face: https://www.instagram.com/facetofacemusic/ https://www.facebook.com/facetoface/ https://facetofacemusic.com/ The Music Factory: https://www.instagram.com/the_music_factory_oc/ https://www.youtube.com/@musicfactory-schoolofmusic3841 https://www.facebook.com/MusicFactorySoM For all things Los Cabos Drumsticks visit: https://loscabosdrumsticks.com/

He’s been a part of some of the most influential and successful bands to come out of New Brunswick.  I’ve had the honour of sharing the stage with PJ a number of times (more to come), and he’s always been so supportive of all the bands and everyone that comes out to watch the show. He’s got so many amazing tales to tell, and he was so gracious to share a few with me on this episode. Please enjoy my conversation with PJ Dunphy. #QuarterNotes #DLourdes #NYCBroadway Whoa!! It’s 2025…how did that happen? Welcome to the NEW home of the Quarter Notes podcast - I am excited to be putting out a new episode and continue this journey talking to amazing drummers from all aspects of the drumming world, from the small stage to stadiums and all genres of music. Before having to take a longer than expected break from podcasting, I had the chance to sit down and get to know my awesome guest this week, and that is Rhode Island drummer extraordinaire Jesse-Ray Leich. Jesse-Ray is a world class drummer based out of New York City where he is currently backing up one of New York’s finest artists D’Lourdes, he also can be found on Broadway where he’s provided a solid backbeat for many stage productions (Billy Crystal’s Mr. Saturday Night! & Juliet, Titanique, MJ The Musical, as well as Alicia Keys’ Hell's Kitchen). We had a great talk about musical education, what it takes to be a drummer in the musical theatre world, and so much more!
