The Vodou Project
The Vodou Project is a documentary podcast exploring Haitian Vodou, its history, meaning, and modern practice across the African diaspora. Hosted by Haitian-American producer Baudelaire Ceus, the series investigates the truth behind Vodou—often misunderstood as “voodoo” or associated with myths of witchcraft and superstition. Through immersive storytelling, field reporting, and interviews with Vodou priests, scholars, and cultural historians, the podcast traces Vodou from its West African roots to Haiti, New Orleans, Cuba, and beyond. Along the way, it examines the Haitian Revolution, U.S. intervention in Haiti, and the role of religion in shaping Black identity and culture. Blending personal narrative with historical analysis, The Vodou Project challenges misconceptions about Vodou and offers a deeper understanding of African spirituality, ancestral traditions, and cultural resilience.
