AFL clubs unite to stand against gender-based violence, Showdown 55 kicks off a huge round of rivalries

Michael Whiting and Nat Edwards bring you all the latest footy news on AFL Daily.

The AFL is showing a united front coming together as a collective voice across this weekend’s round of matches to stand against the national crisis of gender-based violence in Australia.

Across all nine Toyota AFL Premiership matches this weekend, our clubs, players, coaches, umpires and administration will come together to pay tribute to the women who have lost their lives to gender-based violence.  Ahead of the start of each match, players, senior coaches and umpires will come together in the centre of the ground to form a linked circle and pay a silent tribute to those women who have lost their lives.

This begins tonight with Showdown 55 between Port Adelaide and Adelaide, we take a look at that game. No room in the line up of the Powers for Jeremy Finlayson. The round will finish with the Q-Clash, there's no love-lost between these 2 sides either.

How Sydney & Geelong are finding on-field success without their skippers

How Sydney & Geelong are finding on-field success without their skippers

Damian Barrett and Sarah Olle bring you all the latest footy news on AFL Daily.

Sydney have raised eyebrows in the last 24 hours with Callum Mills having a setback in his return to play from a calf injury, while the Cats again have to replace Patrick Dangerfield. On field it's not a concern with these sides sitting first and second on the table.

Despite North Melbourne blowing themselves up the day they moved on Brent Harvey, Drew Petrie, Nick Dal Santo and Michael Firrito. Damo is firm in the belief the Roos need to chase hard the experience of Scott Pendlebury. The Magpies legend would be the dream fit to the rabble at the Roos.

Jack Higgins' marathon tribunal hearing ended in the same place it started, with the Saints forward set to miss the next 3 weeks of footy.
