    Skatepark designers Nine Yards

Nine Yards, the designers behind the Paris 2024 Olympic skatepark, get to work on their next big challenge: the rebuild of Olympiaplein, one of Amsterdam's oldest and most cherished skating spots. Sean Allsop joins designers Jesper Kuipers and Jeroen Van Eggermond in the Netherlands, as they work through sketches and plans before presenting their vision to local skaters for crucial feedback. Then the team head out onto the building site, with concrete trucks, tight deadlines, and one shot to get the surface smooth for skaters of all levels, before the gates open and a community gets to skate again. We explore how skating has evolved from an underground sport into an established movement, the community within skateparks, and the intricate detail that goes into every park.

Biography Flash: Rihanna Billion Dollar Deals New Fenty Looks and Studio Whispers

Rihanna Biography Flash a weekly Biography. Rihanna has spent the past few days doing exactly what has defined the current era of her life: blending billion–dollar business, fashion spectacle, and carefully rationed public visibility into one ongoing story arc. In the business column, Reuters reports that LVMH is quietly exploring a sale of its roughly 50 percent stake in Fenty Beauty, with investment bank Evercore advising on a confidential process. Black Enterprise notes sources value the brand between 1 and 2 billion dollars and estimate around 450 million in 2024 revenue, underscoring how central Fenty Beauty is to Rihanna’s billionaire status and how any ownership reshuffle could become a major biographical chapter in her evolution from artist to corporate powerhouse. Neither Rihanna nor LVMH has commented yet, so for now this is a verified exploration, but future deal terms and Rihanna’s level of control remain speculative. On the creative front, The Citizen reports that Fenty Beauty is retiring its Pro Filt’r Soft Matte foundation as it teases a new generation of complexion products. That kind of product pivot suggests Rihanna is actively re–architecting one of the core pillars of her beauty empire, a move likely to be seen in hindsight as part of a “second phase” of Fenty. Visually, Rihanna has been everywhere without leaving her own sets. Page Six reports she “stopped traffic” in new Instagram campaign images for Savage X Fenty, posing in black–and–white lace lingerie with a garter belt and towering stilettos, dripping in six–figure diamonds including a Fernando Jorge ring and a Victorian–inspired necklace from The Back Vault. Reality Tea and other outlets highlight a companion plunge–bra and cheeky–panty look, reinforcing Savage X Fenty’s strategy of keeping Rihanna herself front and center as the brand’s most powerful marketing asset. For fans hoping for music, The Sun and similar tabloids continue to push insider claims that Rihanna is back in the studio working on the long–awaited follow–up to Anti, with the reported brief being “Queen.” Those reports have not been confirmed by Rihanna or her team, so they sit firmly in the speculation file, not yet solid biography. On the lighter side, MEAWW and NewsBreak describe a viral clip from Cannes in which Rihanna adorably misunderstands a fan’s photo request and tries to take the picture for him before realizing he wanted a selfie with her, a small but very in–character moment of star power mixed with real–girl charm. That’s the latest in Rihanna’s ongoing story: mogul moves, brand reinvention, and just enough glamour and humor to keep the Navy watching her every step. Thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe so you never miss an update on Rihanna, and search the term Biography Flash for more great biographies. Thanks for listening. • 462 Days: Kidnapped in Somalia P1

    Season 2, Episode 1

462 Days: Kidnapped in Somalia P1

In August 2008, Australian photojournalist Nigel Brennan travelled to Somalia on assignment. It would be the last decision he made as a free man for nearly a year and a half. Within days of arriving, Nigel and Canadian journalist Amanda Lindhout were ambushed on the outskirts of Mogadishu and taken captive by members of a militant group. What followed was 462 days of unimaginable physical and psychological torment, starvation, isolation, beatings, and a desperate will to survive in conditions that would break most people within weeks. But this is not just a story about captivity. It is a story about what happens to a human being when everything is stripped away. The fear, the negotiation, the impossible decisions made by families on the other side of the world trying to bring their loved ones home. The moments of dark humour and unexpected humanity in the most inhuman of circumstances. And the daring escape attempt that changed everything. Then there is the question that haunts every survivor, who do you become on the other side? How do you rebuild a life, a sense of self, a relationship with the world, after 462 days in hell? In this series Jack Laurence sits down with Nigel Brennan for an extraordinarily candid conversation spanning the months before the kidnapping, the ordeal itself, and the long and difficult road to recovery. It is one of the most remarkable survival stories ever told. Nigels book is avaliable here Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The extremist content quietly spreading on TikTok and Instagram, targeting unsuspecting young people. Through what is disguised as innocuous lifestyle content, supporters of jihadist groups like IS and al-Qaeda reach audiences outside their echo chamber. This is a recruitment drive that signals a move from direct operational instructions to “do-it-yourself jihad", with the aim of potentially inspiring lone wolf attacks. The Global Jigsaw explores the tactics used to obscure and evade detection, the challenges this poses for platforms, and how it has become a relentless game of whack-a-mole. Rastafari and I

What does it mean to inherit a faith that served as a fortress for your father, but feels like a contradiction to you? Throughout his childhood in Oxford, Silas Gray was surrounded by the sights, sounds, and symbols of his father’s Rastafarian identity. He was even named after the Rastafarian spiritual figurehead, Emperor Haile Selassie I. But this legacy weighs heavily. It anchors him to a complex world leader he’s not sure he’s aligned with. And he feels like an imposter carrying a name associated with a faith he doesn’t practise. Desperate to find a version of this legacy he can comfortably own, Silas decides to do what his father spent forty years dreaming of but never actually did: he books a flight to Ethiopia and travels to the Rastafarian spiritual motherland of Shashamane, the land granted to the global black diaspora by the Emperor himself. Silas encounters a living, breathing community where three generations of Rastafarians exist under one roof. This is a deeply personal pilgrimage about a son trying to see what his father sees, heal a generational disconnect, and finally make peace with his name.
