"pop" 是弹出、突然出现，"question" 是问题，字面直译好像是 "突然冒出个问题"。

"pop the question"意思是 "求婚"，专门用于某人向伴侣正式提出结婚请求的场景，

特指说出 “Will you marry me?” 这句话的行为。

这个短语的起源可追溯到 18 世纪中期，当时 "pop" 有 “突然、意外提出” 的含义，

而 "the question" 并非泛指任何问题，而是特指 “你愿意嫁给我吗？”

 这个关键问题，两者结合就成了 “突然提出求婚” 的固定表达。
