Accounting Tech Talks

Welcome to Accounting Tech Talks by Credfino, the podcast for accounting firm owners, tax professionals, and industry leaders who want to build firms that are ready for what's next. Technology is changing every part of the accounting profession. AI is reshaping workflows. Automation is redefining service delivery. Firms are rethinking how they hire, train, and scale. Through conversations with CPA firm owners, AI founders, technology leaders, and accounting experts, we explore what those changes actually look like in practice. We believe technology alone doesn't transform firms. The right people, the right processes, and the right technology working together do. As an offshore accounting partner, our role goes beyond providing talent. We work alongside firms to understand how they operate, identify opportunities to improve workflows, recommend technology where it creates value, and build delivery models for long-term growth. Accounting Tech Talks is an extension of that philosophy.

Why Accounting Firm Owners Become Bottlenecks

What happens when an accounting firm grows, but the way it operates doesn’t grow with it? In this episode of Accounting Tech Talks, Dheeraj speaks with Leah Roderick, founder of Fast Enough Consulting and Fractional COO to accounting firms, about why growing firms often struggle with execution, accountability, technology adoption, and owner dependency. Leah explains when a firm has become too complex to be run “from inside the owner’s head,” how an operating system like EOS® can bring structure to growth, and why having too many priorities often means very little actually gets finished. They also discuss one of the biggest challenges in accounting technology today: firms buying more software and AI tools without changing the underlying processes. From practice management adoption to building a real AI strategy, Leah shares what firms need to get right before technology can create meaningful change. If your accounting firm is growing but becoming harder to run, this conversation is worth listening to. Featuring Leah Roderick, Fractional COO, Fast Enough Consulting. How AI Is Helping Small Firms Take On Bigger Tax Problems

AI is changing what small CPA and tax firms can take on. For years, complex tax questions often meant referring work out, calling a specialist, or telling a client, “Let me get back to you.” That creates a difficult choice for smaller firms: turn away work they could potentially serve, or spend significant time researching questions that sit outside their everyday workload. In this episode of Accounting Tech Talks, we sit down with Adam, founder of Bizora, to explore how AI is changing that equation. We talk about the growing capabilities of frontier AI models such as ChatGPT and Claude, and why they can already handle a large part of complex tax analysis. But tax has a difficult final layer: edge cases, nuances, jurisdiction-specific rules, treaty questions, and the details that can change an answer. That is where the conversation gets interesting. Adam describes this as the “last mile of tax” and explains how specialized AI can help tax professionals work through those harder questions rather than simply using AI as a faster research tool. We also discuss what this could mean for smaller CPA firms that want to expand beyond routine compliance work and take on areas such as: • Cross-border tax and entity structuring • Multi-state taxation • Tax treaty analysis • Sales and property tax questions • Apportionment • More nuanced federal tax questions • Advisory work that traditionally required specialized expertise The bigger question is not whether AI will replace tax professionals. It is what happens when a small firm can access capabilities that were previously difficult to build in-house. Could AI help a 1 to 10 person CPA firm say yes to more complex client questions? Could it reduce the gap between smaller firms and firms with large tax transformation or specialty tax teams? And as AI models continue to improve, will the future of tax technology be a collection of separate applications, or will professionals work through AI models connected to specialized tools, data, and workflows? We get into all of that, including where general-purpose AI is already strong, where specialized tax technology still matters, and what the next generation of AI-enabled tax workflows could look like. If you run a CPA or tax firm and are thinking about how AI can expand your firm's capabilities, this is a conversation worth watching. 🎙️ Accounting Tech Talks Guest: Adam, Founder of Bizora Subscribe to Accounting Tech Talks for more conversations on AI, accounting technology, tax technology, and the tools changing how modern accounting firms work.
