    The National Federation of State High School Association has a Sports Medicine Advisory Committee that is comprised of numerous sports medicine professionals from around the country. It makes recommendations to states that intend to make high school sports safer for adolescent athletes. He is a staunch community advocate and has testified multiple times before the Tennessee Legislature on key sports medicine issues effecting youth successfully resulting in several bills being signed into law. Dr. Diamond has over 50 publications and his work focuses on injury prevention and the promotion of health and safety in youth sports.

    What is The Kinetic Arm?

    Baseball season is in full swing and I’m not sure about you, but I get asked about a particular product at least weekly by baseball players called the Kinetic Arm. As many products we get asked about, there often is a question about what research has been done on the device or product. If you have a good social media presence, your product can become engrained in a world where algorithms point you to similar things repeatedly. Does the Kinetic Arm have any significant research behind it? What about how that translates into sports and sports performance? Prior to medicine, Dr Bowers played division 1 college baseball at Furman University and attended graduate school at Auburn University where he received a master of education in exercise science and a PhD in exercise physiology/kinesiology. Dr Bowers earned his medical degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine-Georgia Campus. He completed his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Emory, where he served as chief resident, and completed a sports medicine fellowship there as well. His current clinical and research interests include baseball medicine and throwing athletes, diagnostic and interventional ultrasound, and orthobiologics. Dr Bowers is the director of the Emory Baseball Medicine program and serves as a team physician for Georgia Tech Baseball, the Atlanta Braves, Gwinnett Stripers (Braves triple A affiliate) and the College Park SkyHawks (G league affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks). Jason Zaremski Dr. Jason Zaremski is a clinical professor at the University of Florida Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and serves as the chief of the sports medicine division and is the department’s clinical Medical Director. He earned his medical degree and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts followed by a fellowship in sports medicine at the Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania. He has served as a team physician for athletes at the high school, collegiate and professional levels. He currently serves as head team physician for high schools in the Gainesville area and volunteers his time as a team physician for Team USA and the US U-17 women’s soccer team. In 2022, he was the chief medical officer for the U-18 Baseball World Cup. In 2024 he was named as one of the Team USA Physicians for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. His research interests focus on throwing injuries in baseball players. He received the Arthur Ashe award for leadership and sportsmanship in baseball for Division II and III athletes in 1997 and in 2010 was named a hall of fame catcher for the Emory University all–baseball team.

He stayed at the University of Wisconsin for his pediatric residency, followed by a year as the chief resident. Following residency, he completed a pediatric and adult sports medicine fellowship at Vanderbilt University. He has been an elected member to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness and the Board of Directors of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM). He has served as a team physician or medical consultant to numerous high schools, Vanderbilt University, Belmont University, Washington University, St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Athletica, and St. Louis Rams. He serves and has served on many local, regional and national committees as an advisor for sports medicine and concussions. Dr. Bernhardt is the co-director of the UW Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship and is the Head Medical Team Physician for University of Wisconsin Athletics and provided coverage for Badger men’s basketball and women’s volleyball teams, as well as for men’s and women’s cross country and track.. He has served as the medical chaperone for the Paralympic experience at the Vancouver Olympic games in 2010. He enjoys teaching medical student, residents, fellows and student athletic trainers and was honored by the American Academy of Pediatrics for his lifelong contributions to pediatric sports medicine as the Thomas Schaffer award winner and recently was named the recipient of the 2026 Andy Hipskind Distinguished Big Ten Physician Award.
