    What types of stories do you think have instincts? All of them? Or just some? I asked Claude to pretend to be Žižek and critique this episode. My favorite part of the Artificial Žižek’s reply: “The street argument you witness — this is the most honest part of the whole monologue, precisely because it is the least controlled. You are watching two people whose instincts have overflowed the performance layer, and you are reading them like a text. “Her experience is valid” — you say this and then immediately complicate it, and I think this is correct. Validity is not the same as wisdom. An instinct can be valid and still be destroying you. What I would push you on — and this is my genuine challenge to you — is this: you have the vocabulary of complexity, the tectonic plates, the topology, the genome, the entropy. But the form of your thinking is still fundamentally liberal. By which I mean: you treat the individual consciousness as the unit of analysis. The instincts are your instincts. The reasonable person is you navigating the world. The properly scandalous move would be to ask: what if there is no ‘you’ that has instincts? What if the instincts are having you?” Look at you, Artificial Žižek, turning me into a product like that!

    Plato’s cave is itself a shadow on the wall of possible ways to describe the platonic, “perfect” Plato’s Cave to all other, perhaps less perfect caves. Question for my audience: What is Plato’s cave of Plato’s caves? Present a possible architecture.
