    359. Mother Teresa

    Mother Teresa of Calcutta was one of the most admired humanitarians and influential figures of the twentieth century. Mother Teresa died in 1997, at the age of 87 from cardiac arrest and heart failure following years of declining health. She breathed her last, in her tiny, humble room at the Missionaries of Charity motherhouse in Calcutta. She was canonized as a saint in 2016.     357. St. Brocard Feast Day

    September 2 is the annual commemoration of Saint Brocard (1170-1231). A group of Christian hermits led by St. Brocard settled on Mount Carmel—the biblical site associated with the Prophet Elijah (900-850 BC). These hermits built a chapel dedicated to Mary and eventually became known as the Brothers of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. They viewed Mary as their spiritual mother and the "Lady of the place," integrating the contemplation of Elijah with devotion to the Virgin. Central to this devotion is the Brown Scapular.
