The Garbage Podcast – Book Reviews: Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers

‘What harm was one more podcast?’ Yes, we may have been teeny bit premature in heralding the end of the podcast a couple of years ago. So why are we back, all be it briefly? Well, with a new Red Dwarf novel having just been published with Rob Grant & Andrew Marshall’s Titan, as well as suggestion that Doug may look to turn his his intended Dave special into a novel, it felt that there was a big chunk of the Red Dwarf universe that we’d not covered properly on the podcast. So to put that right, and as something of a coda to the podcast, we’ll be releasing a limited series of episodes, each discussing a different book. But with Titan having only recently been released, to give us and indeed you a chance to properly absorb it, we’re taking a slower run up by first covering all of the prior novels, starting with this episode covering Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers. Is the novel just a straight retelling of a collection of TV episodes? How does it hide important plot strands early on? And given it’s less than 25 pages into the book before Lister is being offered services in a robot brothel, just why on Earth were we all reading this book at an age where we could still be singing soprano in the school choir? All these age inappropriate questions and more will be covered as Alex, James and Andrew find themselves alone in a Godless universe and out of Audible credits. You can download it from the link below or via Apple Podcasts and if you enjoy it then please do leave us a rating/review to let other people know; we’d greatly appreciate it.
